Position Summary: Provides nursing leadership with the strategic, tactical, and data monitoring and correction activities necessary to ensure that clinical service development, expansion, and optimization occurs; manpower resources are managed effectively and align appropriately with both UMC's Care Delivery Model and statute required safe staffing considerations and skill mix; and that care cost per DRG against reimbursement, care management utilization, supply chain expense and charge master optimization, and expense alignment with evidence based care pathway workflows are budget and revenue positive and operationally aligned.
Education/Experience: Equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in nursing, finance, business administration or a closely related field and two (2) years of experience performing clinically oriented work and at least two years of experience providing professional financial and business development and/or strategic work within an acute healthcare hospital or business operation.
Licensing/Certification Requirements: If incumbent holds a clinical degree and must be legally licensed to practice clinically, incumbent must have the appropriate Nevada practice license by the appropriate licensing entity.
Additional and/or Preferred Position Requirements:
- BACHELOR'S DEGREE IN FINANCE OR BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION
- *EXPERIENCE IN ACUTE HEALTHCARE*
- *EXPERIENCE AS A MANAGMENT OR PRODUCTIVITY ENGINEER, OR AS A BUSINESS OR FISCAL ANALYST. *
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Physical Requirements:
Knowledge of: Leadership and managerial theories and principles; strategic planning theories and principles; budgeting theories and principles; Hospital and departmental policies and principles; laws, rules, regulations and standards governing finances and financial reporting in health care facilities; generally accepted accounting principles (G.A.A.P.); department and hospital safety practices and principles; patient rights; infection control policies and practices; handling, storage, use and disposal of hazardous materials; department and hospital emergency response policies and procedures.
Skill in: Developing and enforcing departmental policies and procedures; writing financial and technical reports; reviewing and analyzing billing and claims reports; determining acceptable payments and time frames; developing interpersonal relations with a variety of people; negotiating settlements on third party accounts; using computers and related software applications; communicating with a wide variety of people from diverse socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all personnel contacted in the course of duties; efficient, effective and safe use of equipment.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Mobility to work in a typical office environment and use standard equipment, stamina to remain seated for extended periods of time, vision to read printed materials and a VDT screen, and hearing and speech to communicate effectively in person and over the telephone.
