The selected individual will working in the Boeing India Engineering and Technology Center (BIETC) in Bangalore, India as a Software Development Engineer. This individual will be a part of the Digital Aviation team working on JetPlan Engine (JPE) and potentially other Digital Aviation products that caters to the Boeing customers globally.
JetPlan Engine provides customers with first-time flyable, fully optimized routes based on cost, time, or fuel alternatives. JetPlan complies with global regulatory requirements, including FAA and EU-OPS. It is available as a hosted or local service and can easily be integrated into an airline operation. Additionally, Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) are provided should an airline wish to write a proprietary interface, or adapt one already in production.
The selected candidate will work with the existing JPE team located in Colorado by, initially, reviewing and documenting current JPE capabilities and later developing more complex capabilities down the line.
The selected individual will be a skilled, highly professional software engineer and work collaboratively with an international team.
The selected individual will also be responsible to provide support to development of internal competency and skilled resources for creating a talented flight optimization technology development team in Boeing India.
This position develops and maintains technical relationships / partnerships on as needed basis with customers, suppliers, peers, partners and team members to execute on projects.
This position provides periodic updates to Boeing management in the form of progress reports, project summaries, and other related documents.
This position will support initiatives of Boeing India organization related to engineering excellence, employee development, mentoring, customer engagement etc This requisition is for an international, locally hired position. Benefits and pay are determined at the local level and are not part of Boeing U.S.-based payroll. Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Mathematics, or Engineering is required and a Master’s degree is preferred. Candidates with Aeronautical engineering related application development background will be preferred. 9 year experience in engineering software application development
Hands-on programming skills in following areas is mandatory:
FORTRAN 77, 90
C & C programming skills (HP Unix environment)
Linux / Unix Scripting (bash, ksh, etc)
Linux OS commands
Unix (HP-UX) OS commands
XML, XSL Stylesheet
Hands-on experience in using the following tools
PuTTY or other TelNet tool
Perforce (line & GUI)
vi or other line/gui editor
MS Office Suite
Application Lifecycle Management( ALM)
UFT (Unified Functional Testing - HP)
File-Zilla (or other FTP tool)
An understanding of aircraft performance is critical for this role
Skills in following areas is desired: Java, D-ISAM 3 Database Management, Perl, MS Office tool automation
Strong Source code debugging skills
Experienced in Requirements gathering
Must have experience in Flight Planning / Management / Dispatch
A pilot license (private / commercial) is desirable, but not required
Background in aeronautical engineering is desirable, but not required
