Research Medical Center is currently looking for a PI Laboratory Specialist
Responsibilities: Under the general direction of the Laboratory Administrative Director provides leadership and oversight of three areas of laboratory regulatory compliance including 1) Point of care testing (POCT); 2) quality assurance/performance improvement (QA/PI); and 3)laboratory safety. Leadership and oversight activities include design, implementation, and evaluation of programs associated with these three areas of regulatory compliance. Serves as the Laboratory HIPAA, Safety, and Records Retention Officer. Uses and teaches adult education methodology and total quality management. Serves as laboratory liaison and consultant to facility committees involving HIPAA, safety, performance improvement, record retention, JCAHO, and HCA QRS preparation. Coordinates CAP, JCAHO, HCA QRS inspection and accrediting activities for the laboratory. Maintains current knowledge of safety, PI, POCT, HCA, and employee training/competency regulatory requirements to assure compliance. Coordinates clinical experiences for clinical laboratory science students, medical students, residents, nurse practitioner, and other professional education programs. Serves as editor for laboratory newsletters. Develops and maintains laboratory administrative policies/procedures, safety policy/procedures, POCT policies/procedures, and QA/PI policies/procedures. Serves as a consultant in areas of expertise to laboratory management at other MWD hospitals.
Bachelor degree in medical technology/clinical laboratory science or related science
Successful completion of a NAACLS accredited medical technology/clinical laboratory science program
MT(ASCP) and/or CLS(NCA)
Knowledge of adult education methodologies and quality assurance/performance improvement principles
Knowledge of laboratory regulatory/accreditation requirement
Three years experience in a clinical laboratory required
Prior development/implementation of laboratory education/training programs, laboratory safety programs, and performance improvement plans
Ability to multi-task while maintaining a high degree of accuracy
Verbal and written communication skills
Personal computer skills
