The StaRN program at HCA Midwest Health is designed for newly Registered Nurses with a desire to work in the areas of Medical-Surgical,Telemetry and ICU/PCU, providing employment opportunities in specialty units in the acute care hospitals within our market.

StaRN—AN INNOVATIVE SOLUTION StaRN (Specialty Training Apprenticeship for Registered Nurses) program helps new nurses overcome the catch-22 of not having the experience to work in an acute care environment but who can’t gain that experience without the chance to work. StaRN provides full-time, post-graduate employment and education through comprehensive didactic, hands-on skills training with robust simulation experiences and a clinical preceptorship at the hiring facility, followed by a full-time position at the facility, upon successful completion of the training program. Benefits of Being a StaRN Nurse - Nurses who finish the StaRN Program will not only have specific, hands-on experience in their chosen specialties, they also will have achieved several certifications in areas including basic life support, advanced cardiac life support, and the National Institute of Health’s Stroke Scale program. The program utilizes the TeamSTEPPS® training developed by the U.S.Department of Health and Human Services.You will also be introduced to and receive training on the EMR system for your facility.

Candidates for the StaRN Apprenticeship program must have: • Graduated from an accredited school of nursing • Current RN license for Kansas graduates (required within 90 days of graduation in Missouri) • BCLS certification required upon hire and maintained
