JPMorgan Chase Software Engineering Manager - Digital in Jersey City, New Jersey

The Digital MarCom group supports third party hosted systems that addresses the business needs of the JP Morgan Chase marketing groups. We work closely with all JP Morgan Chase line of businesses to provide consistent, integrated internet applications that are intuitive, dependable, and easy to use for our customers. The individual would be responsible for support of third party applications that support Digital banking strategies for JPMorgan Chase’s marketing groups. The team works closely with JPM's marketing business units to understand consumer needs and business priorities and helps deliver innovative products and services to meet those needs.

As an Application Development Manager (ADM), you will lead technology teams from evaluation to implementation of third-party hosted solutions (SaaS). An ADM has two primary customers when leading project work. The first customer is business focused, responsible for designing project requirements and product strategy. The second is technology focused, responsible for creating the product and technical implementation. The ADM will also have a post-project implementation responsibility to monitor product quality and adjust as customers deem necessary.

Responsibilities :

  • Responsible for the technical integrity of our team's delivery.

  • Provide analysis and estimation of future work impacting our team.

  • Provide technical oversight to the marketing group delivery manager during implementation and enhancement cycles

  • Work closely with the risk control teams, marketing group delivery manager and vendors during the risk assessment activities for the third party solutions.

  • Server as a primary liaison with the third party vendors for ongoing technical tasks related to the solution e.g. breaks, defects, patches & upgrades.

  • Lead the technical discussions and activities related to integrating chase systems with the third party solutions.

  • Mentor team members to progress their technical and professional skills.

  • Concurrently lead multiple initiatives related to third party hosted solutions.

  • Build and maintain relationships with internal (business and technology team members) and third party vendors.

  • Triage technical issues and lead teams toward solving problems.

  • Plan team capacity to accommodate demands.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field or the foreign equivalent.

  • 7 years technology experience with a minimum of 4 years of technical product delivery and management.

  • Experience with leading projects through all phases of a software development lifecycle.

  • Agile project management experience, including use of agile project management tools (i.e. Confluence, JIRA, Git, etc.).

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including experience with executive level communication.

  • Ability to build strong internal (client) and external (vendor) relationships.

  • Ability to lead geographically distributed diverse project teams.

  • Candidates must be self-motivated and confident in ambiguous circumstances.

  • Extensive knowledge and experience working in an Agile environment.

  • Technologies

  • Web – Expert-level implementation skills with building modern web applications using frameworks like jQuery, jQuery UI, Bootstrap and Responsive Design techniques.

  • Application Servers – Broad understanding of multiple application server platforms equivalent of Apache Tomcat, Redhat Jboss or IBM WebSphere.

  • General – Comfortable in more than one programming language and have a firm grasp of fundamental web/internet technologies.

  • Extensive knowledge and experience in design and implementation of cloud based marketing domain solutions

  • Extensive knowledge and experience with System/Data Integration with cloud based solutions

  • Familiarity with IT control processes around risk and compliance

  • Familiarity with modern software engineering methodologies DevOps, TDD, CI/CD

Candidates with the following skills will have an added advantage

  • Security domain concepts related to authentication, authorization, single sign-on, encryption

  • Static & Dynamic code scanning tools and technologies

  • Ethical hack / Penetration testing tools and technologies

  • Black duck testing for open source libraries
