SSM Health Unit Support Assistant in Janesville, Wisconsin
Under the direction of the Family Birth Center Director and the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse, the Obstetric Unit Support Assistant (USA) is a member of the healthcare team who organizes and implements certain aspects of the plan of care that includes, but is not limited to maintaining the necessary clerical functions of the nursing unit; checking vital signs, providing bath and hygiene care, meal assistance, assistance with ambulation and transfers, assisting with the set up and clean up of delivery equipment, and infant security. The USA communicates in a timely manner with the patient, family, and healthcare team and documents the care per hospital protocol.
High School diploma or equivalent
Wisconsin Certified Nursing Assistant. Current Basic Life Support Certification.
Use of nursing equipment such as infusion pumps, suction machines, oxygen delivery systems, lifts and other transfer devices. ECG machines, and telemetry monitoring systems and fetal monitors; use of office equipment such as telephone, copy machine, fax, paging system, computer and printer. Must deal courteously and respectful with people.
