Position Title:

Senior Quality Engineer

Job Description:

Defense contractor involved with product development and manufacture of various military aircraft and vehicle systems is searching for a senior level hardware Quality Assurance Engineer. The position supports ongoing low rate production that will lead to full production.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews customer requirements and ensures that they are met

  • Participates and leads closed-loop root cause and corrective action activities

  • Dispositions non-conforming materialIdentify and initiate continuous improvement opportunities

  • Assemble and review end-item data packages prior to customer submittal

  • Perform contract reviews, purchase order reviews, planning reviews and supplier data reviews, to ensure that quality requirements are captured and flowed down

  • Interface with business partners over quality related issues

  • Contribute in a team environment, be flexible, and volunteer support to meet team goals

  • Collaborate with program management, engineering, purchasing, production control, operations and inspection

  • Maintain Quality metrics for tracking daily activities within the department

  • Participate in Change Control Board (CCB) reviewsMaintain and be an advocate for the integrity and quality of our products to our customers

Requirements:

  • MUST have general understanding of GD&T and able to interpret engineering drawings

  • Ability to interpret and understand customer and industry specifications, i.e., ISO, ASME, MIL STD, MS, etc.

  • Excellent communications skills – both verbal and technical writing

  • Experience and understanding of AS 9100 or ISO 9000 standardsProvide project leadership for process improvement initiatives

  • Understanding of configuration management principles and practices

  • ASQE certification or minimum of 10 years aerospace Quality Engineering experience

  • Experience with Quality Engineering tools, i.e. Cause Map, Fish Bone analysis, PFMEA, Six Sigma, SPC, etc.

  • Strong presentation skills

  • Prior background that includes machining, assembly and inspection desirable

  • Attention to details and be a self-starter

  • Lean trained and able to apply lean principles in day to day tasks

  • MS Office proficient

  • Green belt trained a plus

  • Familiarity with SAP a plus

  • F-35 program experience a plus
