The Janitorial Training Program is an intensive 10-20 week program, depending on part time or full time availability. Three levels of training have been identified. A Janitorial Certificate will only be given for the completion of all levels. The focus of the program is on skill acquisition and development through a paid internship within Goodwill Industries Janitorial Training Department. The program will include skill development in obtaining the technical and soft skills of working. Individuals will also be provided with case management services throughout the duration of the training program. Individuals are assessed on a weekly basis.
Interns: The Janitorial Training Program targets individuals with barriers to employment that have little or no prior work history, a sporadic work history and who have an interest in learning skills associated with Janitorial/housekeeping work.
Location: The Janitorial Program is offered at 1635 W. Michigan St. Hours of operation are from 6:00am--8:30pm Monday thru Friday.
Individuals must be able to clean restrooms, office areas, and common areas up to Goodwill Quality standards. Individuals will also develop the skills necessary to dust mop, damp mop, clean glass/windows, disinfect and spot clean carpets walls, chrome and general floor and carpet maintenance.

For a candidate to be considered for training, they will need to have an expressed interest in learning, be able to learn from means of lecture, video and practical application of the techniques for proper cleaning.
An individual will need to have the necessary mobility, sight, manipulation and dexterity abilities to do basic office, general work area and floor cleaning.
Candidates must pass a recent (within the last 3 months) Indiana State Police check prior to acceptance into the training program. The Program will accept no pending felony charges or convictions.
The candidate will need to have their training funded (special circumstances will be considered on a case by case basis).
Referrals will come directly to the case manager for pre-screening and interview. Upon recommendation the Program supervisor will be contacted for a second interview and the candidates will complete a 2-4 hour unpaid job shadow prior to determining program enrollment.
Criminal history completed upon entrance into the program; individuals cannot have any felony convictions associated with a: violent offense, sexual offense, theft, robbery, or fraud.
Must have reliable transportation.

Limited janitorial work experience(less than 6 months)
