This job is responsible for supporting the development of various small applications/tools for the NRG Retail organization, including Solar and commodity areas. The individual is also responsible for data analytics, process automation, and statistical analysis in addition to producing various ad-hoc reports from a variety of systems including Salesforce, SAP, and related standard and custom data warehousing systems.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Participate in development and implementation of appropriate methods for storing, monitoring, analyzing, and preparing data for management reports and statistics.

  • Integrate information from various environments and develop queries or reporting solutions to fulfill business needs. Recognize data anomalies to analyze and troubleshoot to determine cause.

  • Utilize thorough knowledge of table structure and reporting environments to gather data to report metrics. Generate effective reports and manipulate data in reports to provide key metrics develop KPIs for business operations.

  • Solve problems with attention to detail, validate results and ensure accuracy through quality checks.

  • Participate in developing and implementation of new processes and tools to streamline workflow.

  • Document and communicate technical data requirements for development of system queries and reports to support ongoing operations and provide related root cause analysis.

  • Develop VBA, Javascript, XML, C#, PL/SQL, R, and Python experience for application development, maintenance, reporting, and analytics as well as workflow applications are preferred.

  • Follow QA testing procedures throughout the life-cycle of the applications.

  • Availability for remote support when required.

  • Train personnel on how to use systems and tools.

Position Requirements:


Bachelor s degree in quantitative field such as engineering, statistics, mathematics, or computer science or equivalent education and/or work experience.


A minimum of 1 - 3 years experience in development, reporting, and analytics within various IT systems such as Salesforce, SAP, Oracle. Proficient with MS Excel, Access and SQL queries. Proficiency with Visual Basic, PL/SQL, Python, R and/or other languages is highly desired. Position may be filled at various levels depending on candidate qualifications such as experience and technical skills.

  • Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:*

  • Ability to develop recommendations/action plans and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Clearly communicates complex technical concepts both in a written and oral manner.

  • Excellent problem solving skills and ability to use good judgment to make recommendations and decisions.

  • Ability to import, export, and manipulate data files between various IT applications and databases (e.g., Oracle, SAP, Salesforce) is preferred.

  • Excellent personal computer skills within a Windows environment demonstrating advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. (Word, Excel, Access)

  • Knowledge of statistical analysis (including time-series, sampling, probability, regression, linear programming and forecasting) is desired.

  • Provide accurate data and analysis to influence decision-making to ensure business meets financial and operational objectives.

  • Ability to develop and make formal presentations to internal and external groups.

Physical Requirements:

  • Occasionally requires lifting as appropriate to perform duties and responsibilities.

Working Conditions

  • Open office environment.

  • Some overtime required as special projects arise.
