Summary : The individual will contribute towards IHS Markit Chemical research responsibilities for understanding the dynamics associated with propylene derivatives markets particularly responsibility for Acrylates and Super Absorbant Polymers (ASAP) and oxo alcohol. The individual is expected to be key interface to the industry on ASAP and oxo alcohols and convey information and forecasts in the form of written reports, studies, and presentations. The successful individual will provide thought leadership on the North America markets relating to supply, demand, price and economics. The individual will be responsible for working with existing spreadsheets, models, and databases and interfacing with other IHS reseachers concerning upstream feedstocks and downstream derivatives.
General Job Duties: The successful individual will provide thought leadership on the ASAP and oxo alcohol markets relating to supply, demand, price and economics. The individual will be responsible for working with existing spreadsheets, models, and databases and interfacing with other IHS Markit reseachers concerning upstream feedstocks and downstream derivatives. Conveying market information in the form of written reports, studies, and presentations is a key part of the job along with interfacing with clients/potential clients.
Specific Job Duties:
Understand and maintain ongoing knowledge of the fundamental drivers and outlook for ASAP and oxo alcohols primarily in North and South America but a general understanding globally of these markets as well.
Provide ongoing analysis of the North and South America ASAP and oxo alcohol markets for IHS Chemical related services
Work with other IHS researchers and become one of IHS Chemical's internal and external focal points for understanding and providing insight on the North and South America ASAP and oxo alcohols.
Provide routine and unbiased written analyses for monthly and annual analysis.
Contribute previous experience, knowledge, insights, and analysis into sustainable, profitable IHS Chemical services.
Build and nourish relationships with key industry contacts that utilize or could benefit from IHS Markit Chemical services. Pursue face-to-face client industry contacts and provide presentations to market IHS Chemical capabilities.
Actively pursue and develop unique analytical approaches that provide value to IHS Markit clients and/or potential clients.
Maintain a fundamental working knowledge of the IHS Chemical basic model templates of supply/demand (short-term and long-term formats), econometric price forecasts, and trade grids.
Contribute to semi-annual global long-term supply/demand process for assigned products
Monitor production capacity changes and assure maintenance of IHS Chemical’s capacity database for assigned products in your region
Drive commercial efforts to expand and retain client base for IHS products via speaking engagements, webinars and personal visits.
Identify and make contact with target accounts to expand ASAP subscription base, in collaboration with IHS Chemical Sales.
Maintain current presentation slide decks for own use and sharing with global colleagues.
Provide support for private studies work, especially in the areas of light olefins and olefin derivatives.
Mentor junior level personnel within the team. Required Education: Bachelors Degree, Chemical Engineering or technical degree preferred, MBA is a plus Required Experience: Minimum 7 years of experience in the petrochemical industry. Experience in the area of sales, purchasing, or business analytics preferred. Other skills: Demonstrated strong relationship builder.Verbal and written fluency in English; excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Proven thought leadership and idea generatorStrong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPointStrong teamwork skills, integrity, and accountability Physical Requirements: n/a Travel: Yes, up to 20% of the time
