West Houston Medical Center is currently looking forRegistered Nurse RN – Emergency Room ER.

Responsibilities: The Charge Nurse: * Assumes responsibility for direction and coordination of all functions during the designated shift. * Functions as a resource person for staff members and assists in necessary education of individual members of the nursing staff. * Assumes responsibility for the overall quality of nursing care provided when s/he is on duty. * Makes decisions regarding activities within these areas based on Administrative Operational Standards, Nursing Administrative Standards, Human Resource Standards, and Standards of Care for the unit, in collaboration with other members of the management team. * Serves as a role model displaying a positive attitude in a professional and courteous manner on a daily basis while performing job duties * Accepts changes in responsibility in a positive and effective manner * Embraces constructive criticism and profits by translating it into positive action * Demonstrates customer service principles when providing care and services * Maintains an environment conducive to open communication, cooperation and positive staff development through active listening and other effective communication * Serves as a role model to others demonstrating desirable work habits by creating an atmosphere of pride in workmanship * Supports hospital mission, objectives, decisions, and policies * Completes other activities as assigned * Assumes responsibility for direction and coordination of all functions during the designated shift. * Functions as a resource person for staff members and assists in necessary education of individual members of the nursing staff. * Assumes responsibility for the overall quality of nursing care provided when s/he is on duty. * Makes decisions regarding activities within these areas based on Administrative Operational Standards, Nursing Administrative Standards, Human Resource Standards, and Standards of Care for the unit, in collaboration with other members of the management team. * Supports the mission vision and values of West Houston Medical Center. * Makes assignments for team members based on level of experience and acuity of patients in the department. * Ensures all staff have reviewed educational and policy updates provided by leadership team. Teaches, supervises and serves as a resource for staff, assists with clinical procedures as needed. * Always supports implementation of new processes in a positive manner, coaches and guides team members in order to ensure success of initiatives. * Provides direct support to team members during all codes and critical patients. * Monitors productivity throughout shift and makes necessary adjustments to staffing levels in order to maintain adequate staffing levels. * Rounds on patients during the shift * Supports and promotes manager and directors decisions and initiatives * Monitors and maintains high standards regarding patient care and oversees compliance with core measures on applicable patients. * Attention to Behavior: * Consistently maintains professional level of conduct. * Facilitates communication with patients, physicians, guests, and co-workers as appropriate to position.

Qualifications: * Associates Degree in Nursing required, BSN preferred. * Previous charge nurse experience preferred * Minimum of two (2) years of clinical practice in an Emergency Department as a registered nurse. * Current Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Texas * Current CPR, ACLS, PALS – from American Heart Association required * Current Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) * ENPC may be substituted for PALS * Current National Institute of Health Stroke Scale Certification (NIH) Stroke Scale * NIMs 100 and 700 training required or must obtain within 90 days of employment
