GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES –The Intake & Admissions Manager in conjunction with the Program Director coordinates the pre-admission assessment process and provides clinical assessments for potential patients. Will assist with community education and participates with community events such as health fairs.

DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO * Manages all aspects of the Intake & Admissions Department * Completes assessments in a timely manner. * Coordinate with the hospital-wide ER department to ensure admissions are handled timely and safely. * Monitor daily inquiry call log to ensure complete and provide follow-up as needed. * Oversee the Connection of Care Calls and development of action plans * Responsible for Behavioral Health Wellness Check Process * Conduct follow up calls to referral sources to assess ongoing needs * Responsible for development and oversight of intake assessment back-up schedule * Monitor readmission rates, track readmissions monthly by patients and LOS and monitor for trends * Assess daily bed availability and communicate available behavioral health beds to hospital-wide administration, directors, and coordinators * Complete ongoing chart audits to ensure documentation is timely and complete based on regulatory standards. * Completes initial pre-certification and/or authorization requirements, facilitates pre-admission TDO requests and address all AMA’s * Completes admission and/or registration process, including entering data in applicable admission/registration computer programs and completing applicable forms. * Responds to inquiry calls and provides information related to behavioral health treatment options and/or community resources. * Establishes and maintains contacts with behavioral health professionals and/or organizations to expand knowledge base of behavioral health resources and to enhance opportunities for business development activities and maintain referral resource binder * Demonstrates good judgment in handling situations not covered by verbal or written instructions. * Follows established policy and procedures in performing job functions. * Interacts and communicates with others in a way that promotes a positive and cooperative work environment. * Demonstrate effective problem solving skills, channels concerns appropriately and demonstrate the ability to provide input, suggestions and support * Demonstrates ability to set priorities and demonstrates a thorough knowledge of work practices. * Ensures patient rights and confidentiality. * Able to assess and reassess needs of patients. * Works collaboratively with hospital departments to assist managing behavioral health assessment needs. * Participates as an active member of the multidisciplinary team. * Provides ongoing education to patients and families as needed. * Provides resources and support for patients before, during and after treatment. * Coordinates and participates with appropriate interested parties and physicians through the patient referral inquiry, admission, treatment and discharge process. * Models and trains other behavioral health team members on managing and tracking inquiry calls. * Tracks and reports on all key indicators related to calls, assessment, admissions. * Performs other duties as assigned by Program Director.

* Posses a thorough knowledge of current behavioral health concepts, principles and methods of treatment. * Possess good communication skills verbal and written. * Possess good organization skills and be able to act on multiple tasks. * Understand and be able to train on all the state and federal standards regarding behavioral health assessment, petition, medical screening and patient rights.

EDUCATION * Required:Graduation from an accredited College or University. Preferred: Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Social Work, or Professional Counseling is desired.

EXPERIENCE * Prefer 1-3 years experience in a behavioral healthcare setting performing clinical assessments or in a clinical treatment setting. Prefer 1-3 years experience with Utilization Review.
