Like many industries in North America, CN employees require onboarding and technical skills to perform in their roles. Training and knowledge transfer are required to maximize employees' performance.

The Role:

Train and qualify employees in USOR, Rail Traffic Control, and job specific skills to ensure they have the knowledge and skills required to perform their jobs safely and productively, so that CN's workforce is ready to meet business goals.

The Critical Performance Areas Include:

  • Deliver training both in the classroom and on the job, following a standard instructor guide and using prepared training and testing materials.
  • Support training material development by working with aCurriculum Advisor.
  • Prepare for training events by reviewing materials, ordering appropriate supplies, confirming and setting up locations.
  • Enter training records and qualification records in the corporate Training Management System, thus ensuring that training and qualifications records are available for compliance and reference purposes. The Training:

Successful candidates will participate in a trainer Certification Program that will include a Personal Development Plan to track progress towards certification. In addition, they will receive training to improve facilitator's skills and deepen technical knowledge. The training and development of the instructors may take place at any of the CN locations throughout US

The Working Conditions:

  • Classroom - field training both at central or remote locations.

  • Will be required to deliver training in the field with employees in all weather conditions.

  • May be called to protect train and engine service if required. *Extensive Travel is required

The Requirements:

  • Education: High school diploma

  • Valid driver's license

  • Railroad knowledge: Strong knowledge of railway operations, CATS, Train and Yard Operations, Rail Operating Rules, Transportation of Dangerous Goods

  • 2 to 5 years experience as an RTC

  • Conductor or Locomotive Engineer qualified is an asset
