ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Purchases/decision making will require the understanding of unique technical product specifications for commodities such as: Active, discrete and passive components. The number of suppliers and/or potential suppliers is likely to be small and price differentials often reflect important factors that are difficult to evaluate (i.e. quality, delivery dates, locations, etc.).

  • Purchases materials, supplies, and services by developing, soliciting, and analyzing supplier quotations. Coordinates activities with other departments to assure proper delivery, quality, reliability, and low cost consistency. Documents and maintains necessary records and files. May work with agents and customs brokers for overseas material buying.

  • Locates new sources of supply, establishes new suppliers and coordinates order maintenance with existing suppliers for regional activities. Supports the global purchasing team in offering sourcing recommendations based on regional performance of the supply base. Develops and maintains relationships with suppliers.

  • Resolves conflicts that arise with supplier delivery schedules, raw materials, inventory, etc. working with Production Inventory Control (PIC) personnel and other areas to resolve escalated conflicts. This would include leading the supplier chargeback process for regional suppliers.

  • Develops and/or supports in developing strategies and solutions to continuously improve cost levels, stable sources of supply, high quality of commodities and other governing factors related to the Purchasing Department and adjacent areas.

  • Participates in continuous improvement activities that may include developing programs to improve supplier performance. Tracks supplier performance and works with suppliers to continuously improve quality, delivery, cost, productivity and support.

  • Ability to analyze market trends and systems technology related to job. Works closely with the global team and engineering to recommend new product developments. Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.

  • Work directly with operations to improve order quantities, payment terms, consignment and other critical items

  • Develop and update process descriptions, reporting features and controlling tools to track status for the areas of commodity purchasing, project purchasing and supplier development

  • Plan, organize, direct, and control activities related to the purchasing function with the objective of optimizing the total cost of purchases, while selecting the optimal capable source to support the program in all areas

  • Assist in development of a strategic supply chain

  • Work cooperatively with peers to implement consistent policies, procedures, strategies, and reporting

  • Communicate the necessary information to management to assist in decision making and strategy formulation

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business or equivalent preferred.

  • 3-5 years of purchasing or materials management experience required.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to communicate with internal and external contacts at all levels.

  • Excellent organizational skills in order to establish priorities and set goals, etc.

  • Knowledge in ERP systems and SAP is a plus.

  • Must be able to thrive in a highly visible, fast paced organization.

  • Minimal travel may be required, up to 10%.
