The Economist India currently has an opportunity for a Database Administrator-SalesForce in our Gurgaon office. In this role, the Administrator will be responsible for system administration, data management, and the development and maintenance of business solutions related to The Economist's Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system and other sales technology & analytics applications. The CRM Administrator works directly with internal business partners in Sales, Marketing, Finance, Information Technology and other departments to drive Sales and overall company success through automation, business intelligence, business processes improvement, change management, and user enablement. The CRM Administrator reports to the Director of Financial Analysis and Sales Support within the Finance group.

The role will be based on local hours with some flexibility required to cover day-to-day contact with individuals in the United States.


In this role you would be expected to:

  • Customize and maintain The Economist's Salesforce CRM system, including user setup and maintenance, role hierarchy, profiles & permissions, security, page layouts, objects, fields, workflow, approval processes, formulas, queues, assignment rules, and data management

  • Troubleshoot and resolve problems identified by internal users related to reports & dashboards, list views, access/visibility, license provisioning, user activation & termination, system errors, feature requests, data quality, user audits, and general questions related to the Salesforce system

  • Create and optimize queries at the request of other Salesforce users and train users to develop and optimize their own queries

  • Work with Customer Success Managers (CSMs) leveraging Gainsight platform to improve renewal and upsell performance

  • Create and document solid, methodically-based test plans, testing templates, test cases and test suites

  • Work with billing team to ensure contractual data in Salesforce is appropriately entered into billing system

  • Identify, correct, and prevent data quality issues through data governance and system setup

  • Contribute to The Economist's sales technology projects aiding in technical design, development, testing, and deployment

  • Create and maintain solution design documents, workflow diagrams, knowledge articles, technical specifications, and other documentation that support and explain technical solutions and business processes

  • Drive operational excellence, stability, and scale by observing strict change control, data governance, release management, case management, knowledge management, and project management best practices

  • Stay current with Salesforce releases and corresponding documentation and provide new functionalities and solutions as needed

  • Manage overall storage and user licenses so The Economist is compliant with its Salesforce contract

Experience, skills and professional attributes:

To succeed in this role you must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

  • SalesForce Certification

  • Three years’ experience managing a SalesForce Environment for at least 50 users

  • Thorough knowledge of SalesForce plugins, including Gainsight, Marketo and

  • Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills
