The Department of Defense Dependent Schools (DoDDs) is currently accepting applications under examining authority of 10 U.S.C., Section 2164, for position(s) in it's schools. This vacancy announcement may be used for the purpose of filling intermittent, on-call seasonal positions for the remainder of School Year 2014-2015 and Beginning of School Year 2015-2016.
The purpose of this position is to provide instructional services to students, grades Pre K-12, as a substitute for the regular teacher.
TEMPORARY LIMITED APPOINTMENT
A temporary limited appointment is a non-permanent, non-status appointment to a position for a specified period of time not to exceed one calendar year. Temporary appointments are intended to meet legitimate non-permanent staffing needs. Examples of appropriate use of temporary appointments include:
(1) Filling a position to address a temporary workload peak or to complete a project;
(2) Meeting a staffing need that is scheduled to be terminated within the one year timeframe for reasons such as abolishment, reorganization, or contracting out of the function, anticipated reduction in funding;
This is an Excepted Service Position with a Time-Limited Appointment. This is an Intermittent on-call position. This announcement may be used to fill multiple Intermittent Substitute Teacher positions throughout the 2015-2016 school year.

The substitute teacher replaces the classroom teacher. The substitute teacher plans, organizes, and presents information and instruction which helps students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their educational and social development; has an instruction which is compatible with the school and system-wide curricular goals; interacts effectively with students, co-workers, and parents; carries out non-instructional duties as assigned and/or as needed; adheres to established laws, policies, rules, and regulations; and follows a plan for professional development. The substitute teacher reports to and is supervised by the principal. Provides instruction in accordance with an established lesson plan and curriculum to students in a classroom. AVID (Advancement via individual Determination) Tutors are advocates and role models for the students, responsible for reporting student progress to the teacher. They tutor students individually or in small groups, review students' notes, entertain questions and discussions, determine the concepts which need to be reviewed, work with students in any phase of the writing process, and correct students notebooks.

DoDDS employs the best qualified professional staff to implement its program of learning. The best qualified candidate is defined as an applicant who possesses a baccalaureate degree from an institution accredited by a regional accrediting association which includes 18 semester hours of coursework in the field of professional teacher education; a baccalureate degree in any major; or an associate degree or has completed at least 60 semester hours of college coursework or if necessary, selection may be made on minimum qualification requirement. The minimum qualification is a high school diploma or graduate equivalency diploma (GED).
