A. Provides population-focused advanced practice nursing care in area of specialty for patients with routine and complex health care needs. 1. Assess the health of patients and families; 2. Performs examinations, including physical, development assessment and screening for psychosocial problems; 3. Provides care for patients at risk or with complex medical needs and refers appropriately. 4. Develops treatment plan for identified health problems according to protocols and/or standing orders and refers as appropriate; 5. Provides in-depth education regarding health care issues to individuals and families; 6. Teaches, counsels and monitors the treatment regimen of preventive health populations; 7. Meets identified needs of Preventive Health patients, incorporating a team approach that includes the patient, the patient's family and other health care professionals (internal and external) and community resources as needed. 8. Provides consultation, including verbal orders when appropriate for assigned Preventive Health Nurses B. Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) 1. Monitors clinical outcomes, researches best practice and implements changes as appropriate to address areas of concern; 2. Monitors and evaluates standards for clinical practice in area of specialization, providing recommendations for policy change. 3. Serves as role model to nursing staff and students to include precepting Preventive Health RNs and nurse practitioner students; 4. Participates in Region's CQI activities C. Leadership 1. Demonstrates leadership in advancing clinical knowledge in the area of specialty in a culturally competent manner. 2. Maintains clinical competency in area of specialization. 3. Provide consultant to effect change in the public health system. 4. As requested, provides educational offerings at the local and/or state level. 5. Actively participates in professional organizations and/or community activities.
Applicant will need to be able to provide reproductive health services to females and males, which will include education/counseling, physical examinations and/or treatment; should possess a current driver's license and have reliable transportation; should be willing to travel to more than one county health department site. All new employees who are healthcare providers are required to provide documentation of immunity or be immunized against measles, mumps, rubella, pertussis, varicella and hepatitis B prior to beginning employment. By the time of employment, the selected candidate will be asked to provide proof of obtaining a MS, MSN or DNP degree and/or college transcript, proof of current APRN licensure with the SC Board of Nursing and proof of prescriptive authority in SC.
Minimum and Additional Requirements: State Minimum: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing with clinical experience.
Agency Minimum: Masters in Nursing (MN) or Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN); current licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing and Prescriptive Authority.
New graduates who are pending license, prescriptive authority and certification are welcome to apply.
Institutions of higher learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
One (1) year Advanced Practice Registered Nurse experience
