Meijer Network / VoIP Engineer in Grand Rapids, Michigan

Currently, Meijer is looking for a Network/VoIP Engineer – with experience specifically in Routing, Switching, Wireless, Firewall, and VoIP. The qualified Network Engineer performs engineering and/or complex tasks relating to all network areas including small to large projects, software and hardware installation and configuration, problem resolution and performance tuning. The Network Engineer selected, will assist in the identification and resolution of hardware and software technical problems, and identify and document troublesome trends as they develop. Must be able to interface with other Information Technology professionals and leadership, as well as, outside vendors. Must have proven project management and support skills in networking technologies to be considered. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Assisting in designs for network technologies, based on direction set by strategy, architecture and customersTroubleshooting, maintaining, upgrading, and providing solutions to hardware/software problemsTroubleshooting performance issues using data capture toolsUnderstanding and supporting the authentication process as applies to wireless and wired networkDetailed understanding of networking configurations and protocolsProviding critical and essential services to locations enterprise wideReviewing assigned service/incident/ticket requests daily, following up and providing status updates to clientsAttending seminars and other educational opportunities and seeking out insight and on-the-job training from senior engineers and other internal and external resourcesMonitoring performance and availability of networking componentsContinuously striving to improve client support, identifying opportunities and recommending solutions for improving networking efficiency and effectiveness while developing a working knowledge of department specific applicationsProviding project management responsibility for all network related projects, including creating schedules, accepting tasks, and ensuring projects are completed on time and on budgetWorking on multiple technical projects, maintaining comprehensive project plans/schedulesUnderstanding help desk policies/procedures and acting as a liaison to help desk staff

QualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Telecommunications, or other related disciplineMinimum 5 years of experience in ITMinimum of 3 years of experience specifically in Networking/TelecomCertifications related to network technologies preferred (Cisco, Juniper, AudioCodes, Interactive intelligence, Microsoft)General knowledge of network services: SIP, DHCP, DNS, BGP, EIGRP, TACACS, and RadiusUnderstanding of distributed systems architecture and knowledge of multiple technical disciplines including:Voice clients, wireless clients, file servers, applicable software, and troubleshooting techniquesBroad range of telecommunications, network, and desktop knowledge including the followingTelecommunications: PBX, Lync/Skype for Business, AudioCodes, Interactive intelligence, Exchange voice mail, and analog and IP telephones and gatewaysDesktop: Windows client OS, Microsoft Office Professional Suite, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft ExplorerNetwork: routers, switches, bridges, Ethernet, TCP/IP, IPAbility to understand and assist in solving cross-functional problems that span multiple areas of technologyStrong technical and non-technical communication skillsBasic understanding of Retail 24/7 business and business processes; awareness of business unit functions and cross group dependencies/relationshipsSolid knowledge of the following as applicable to assigned areaDesktop: Windows client OS, Windows Server, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft ExplorerClient/serverInternet, IntranetWAN/LAN management suitesOther: various network management and performance monitoring/analysis tools
