General Motors Senior Finance Analyst Technical Accounting & Financial Reporting - CCA - FIN0007600 in Grand Blanc, Michigan

This position requires and individual who possesses advanced technical accounting and communication skills to address complex accounting issues and explain the financial reporting impact to a broad audience. In addition to coordination of general accounting efforts and participation in the financial close process, responsibilities also include extensive interaction with many functional groups within the organization to obtain and analyze quantitative data related to various business strategies. Supervisory skills are expected and the analyst is expected to become the subject matter expert in areas of responsibility and a cross-functional business partner. Work involves a high level of independent judgment, decision-making, accuracy, creativity and initiative.

Requirements

  • Lead and perform accounting related work (e.g., journal entries, reconciliations, etc.)
  • Develop common processes, re-engineer and streamline work efforts throughout department and other impacted areas
  • Identify, interpret, and analyze potential accounting risks and research accounting literature to determine and communicate appropriate response
  • Complex contract review and SEC reporting
  • Comply with GM Accounting Policy, U.S. GAAP and assist with adjusting APM when necessary
  • Provide metrics for business decision making
  • Analyze data, evaluate trends and make recommendations
  • Work with external auditors Deloitte & Touche LLP, General Motors Audit Services (GMAS), Corporate Accounting, GM Tax Staff, NYTO, 3rd party providers (ACS) and Global Business Shared Service Centers on various accounting and other matters
  • Participate in SOX compliance, FRDs, Audits (both GMAS & D&T) and resolution of any matters
  • Provide internal and/or external financial analysis, consultation and decision support
  • Develops and presents data to other members of the organization

Qualifications

  • BS Accounting and CPA or equivalent (e.g. Chartered Accountant (CA)) - active license holder
