Senior Manager Platform Technology
A permanent vacancy exists for the position of Senior Manager Platform Technology, API Technology Group, Cork, Ireland. Operating as part of the Technology Team in the global API-Technology Group which is part of GTS, the Senior Manager Platform Technology will take full responsibility for leading and directing a broad range of technology initiatives from proof of concept, through demonstration and filing (if required) and ensure readiness for incorporation into commercial manufacture. Technologies will be identified and developed so as to support the product lifecycle team's targets of cost, quality and supply agility in addition to additional customer requirements around optimal unit operations for maximum efficiency and effectiveness in PGS. As part of the Transformation strategy technologies will align with Next Gen technology initiatives. This role will form part of the joint technology initiatives in PGS and R&D such as FAST (Flexible API Supply Technology) associated with new products and result in co-development of many technologies. The role will seamlessly align with the PDC on next gen initiatives, with the new Singapore Manufacturing Technology Development Centre (MTDC) and the KTL (Kilo Technology Lab) where technologies will be demonstrated. The Senior Manager Platform Technology would also be expected to identify and lead key initiatives inside the wider global API-TG and participate on cross-functional programmes across the wider GTS and PGS organisation. A key responsibility will be to co-lead the Technology and Process Engineering (T&PE) global community of practice with Technology Champions from each manufacturing site and support groups. The successful candidate will report to the Director, API Technology Team.
Key areas of responsibility include:
Ensure Transformation strategy is supported through Next Gen Technology initiatives.
Implement FAST co-design with R&D on new product technologies supporting the activities through KTL demonstration and onto commercialisation.
Foster a culture of Innovation and Continuous Improvement among colleagues on technology through awareness and education programmes.
Support and deliver optimised relationships with individuals and groups involved with technology internally across Pfizer and externally with other manufacturing companies, vendors and academia. Technology Management
Work with global customers and stakeholders on identifying needs and opportunities for new technology that enhance the value proposition for PGS manufacturing.
Work with the Next Gen Technology Programme Team and site Manufacturing and Engineering to deliver the business needs.
Manage a network of technology demonstration activity at vendor sites, external CRO/CMO, other companies and internally in Pfizer.
Lead selected technologies through the various development stages from idea generation, business case evaluation, proof of concept studies, technology development and demonstration, KTL scale-up, technical transfer, regulatory filing (if needed) and commercialisation.
Lead the Technology & Process Engineering (T&PE) community of practice, consisting of Technology Champions from each of the manufacturing sites and support groups, to identify manufacturing needs and opportunities and through the T&PE Workflows ensure solutions are delivered, all replication opportunities are identified, Best Practices are developed and knowledge management is maximised.
Ensure the highest safety standards are applied to all technology related work internally and externally to Pfizer.
Deliver all technology activities within budget.
Continually seek and implement best practice methodologies on technology identification and implementation.The role calls for excellent teamwork, communications and leadership skills, and requires the Senior Manager Platform Technology to perform with confidence in a dynamic business environment. Effective leadership of the T&PE global community of practice will be a key deliverable. The individual will have the ability to lead technology identification, full development and commercialisation in an agile environment to meet customer needs, as well as the ability to deal strategically with a wide range of technology related business issues. An important part of the role is to be an effective member of the Technology Team leadership (KTL, MTDC, Platform Technology) by bringing innovative ideas, plans and strategies to meet the evolving needs of the business. It is expected that the successful candidate will be qualified to at least degree level in Chemical Engineering or another appropriate discipline and will have significant relevant experience across manufacturing and technical roles. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated track record of project management with focus on delivery and impact.
