Position Summary: Performs quality data abstraction to meet regulatory and organizational requirements. Assures documentation requirements are met in accordance with certification standards and regulatory requirements. Assists with planning, design, delivery, and evaluation of education activities related to quality issues.
Essential Functions: * Performs accurate & timely data abstraction for core measures and enters data into the corporate data aggregation program (COMET). * Performs drill down and analysis of data on a quarterly or more frequent basis. * Serves as an education resource to the organization to assist the departments with meeting current and emerging staff development needs related to quality issues. * Participates in committees and activities as needed to maintain an awareness of the current and emerging quality issues of the organization. * Rounds in departments to converse with staff to identify quality issues and education opportunities. * Reviews and enters patient's reviews into the QM module for QI issues. * Assists with providing education to hospital staff on quality improvement and other issues as required by regulatory agencies. * Assists with implementation of JCAHO, CMS and any other regulatory agency standards.
EDUCATION REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED: Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
*EXPERIENCE REQUIRED OR PREFERRED: * Three (3) to five (5) years related experience in acute care clinical experience; Prefer, but not required, knowledge or experience with JCAHO & other regulatory agencies, process improvement, and PI tools including computer programs such as Word & Excel.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES: Demonstrated skills in organization, verbal and written communications, customer service, math, analysis, reading, following instruction, basic computer usage. Maintains current knowledge of regulatory and accreditation agency requirements such as The Joint Commission, CMS, state Health Department, AHCA, and Boards of Licensure. Knowledge of abstraction processes, Society of Thoracic Surgeons data registry and the National Cardiac Data Registries.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: RN license in the State of Florida.
