JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES (Including age specific duties): Exceeds = Consistently Exceeds Standards Meets = Consistently Meets Standards Needs Improvement = Does Not Meet Standards and Needs Improvement 1. Responsible for recognizing all pressure forms and hemodynamic parameters recorded. 2. Responds to call backs in 30 min. 3. Utilizes supplies and equipment with efficiency. 4. Assess the physiological and psychological needs of each patient that is admitted to the CVL holding area. 5. Documents all appropriate information in complete, concise, neat, and accurate manner. 6. Responsible for acting as a preceptor. 7. Shows evidence of preparedness for specific invasive procedure. 8. Confirms current supplies prior to opening to prevent waste. 9. Aware of patient’s allergies prior to selection of local anesthesia, prep, and contrast agent. 10. Drapes patient appropriately maintaining sterility of entry site and field. 11. Adheres to radiation protection measures reflected by low badge readings. 12. Informs patient prior to draping or any patient contact. 13. Effectively achieves hemostasis causing minimum discomfort and bleeding. 14. Notifies nursing floor of transport prior to leaving CVL. Signs patient in and out from floors per hospital policy. 15. Accurately relays all pertinent patient and case information to receiving nurse. 16. Performs other related functions as assigned.
PATIENT/FAMILY EDUCATION Provides patient/family education as per department and hospital policy and procedure. 1. Assists with patient/family/significant other’s learning needs, abilities and readiness to learn. Identifies barriers to learning, such as language or culture. Integrates this information into the patient’s plan of care. 2. Identifies and documents patient/family/SO’s education needs in collaboration with other disciplines and implements an on-going education relevant to these needs. 3. Explains tests, procedures, disease processes, medications and equipment to patient and family throughout the course of treatment. 4. Documents patient teaching on appropriate teaching tool for each teaching episode. 5. Provides teaching material as needed (pamphlets, video tapes, etc.) to enhance patient teaching. 6. Collaborates with other health care providers in developing a teaching plan for patient. 7. Ensures patient/family/SO understand discharge instructions. AGE SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES Performs functions as assigned: ADULT 1. Confirms written consent for all invasive contrast procedures prior to exam. 2. Always make patient comfortable and recognize needs of patient during procedure. GERIATRIC 1. Reduce any fears or anxiety the geriatric patient may have about procedure. 2. Perform all exams according to Policy and Procedure Manual.
EDUCATION REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED: Technical training from CPT Program
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED OR PREFERRED: 1 to 3 years related experience
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES: Demonstrated communications and customer service skills, success in organizing work, computer skills, and ability to multi-task.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: BLS and ACLS certified
