The Trauma Registrar at Frankfort Regional Medical Center :

The Trauma Registrar, under the direction of the Trauma Services Supervisor and Trauma Medical Director is responsible for utilizing ICD-9 CM and ICD-10 CM Injury Severity Coding and QA/PI knowledge to abstract information from identified trauma medical records as required to complete the trauma registry. This includes maintaining the integrity and confidentiality of the registry.

I. Minimum Requirements: Education: Some college course completion towards RHIT, RHIA, Paramedic or RN degree with a plan to complete degree.

Licensure/Certifications: Previous trauma registry experience preferred. Knowledge of Word, Excel, and Access programs. ICD-9 CM and ICD-10 CM experience or training required. Advancement of Automotive Medicine’s (AAAM) Injury Scaling 2005/2008 experience preferred. Completion of Trauma Registrar Course and the AAAM Injury Scaling Course required within 12 months of hire is required. Completion of a minimum of 8 hours of registry-specific continuing education per year is required. Trauma Registry Certification (CSTR) preferred. Completion of formal human anatomy/physiology and medical terminology course work beyond high school education required. Experience: Completion of at least 60% of the clinical experience required for degree complete towards RHIT, RHIA, Paramedic or RN degree
