Leidos Software Test & Integration Engineer in FORT WALTON BEACH, Florida


Leidos has an immediate opportunity for a Software Test & Integration Engineer supporting test activities across several task orders in Ft. Walton Beach, FL. Position requires US citizenship and must have the ability of obtaining a DoD Secret Security Clearance.


The successful candidate will support integration and testing activities at a customer test facility in support of one or more Air Force task orders. Responsibilities include test planning, integration, test execution, test result analysis, and final test reporting in a complex and dynamic integration environment. Candidate will be required to coordinate with the applicable task order development teams in the Leidos-Morgantown Office and with the government test organization at the customer test facility.

Other duties include:

  • Determine strategies and methodologies to isolate problems; develop or co-develop the test procedures, scripts, and other artifacts to implement the testing; recommend solutions and workarounds; and work with the Leidos and customer teams to verify that the solutions working in the host environment.

  • Develop and initiate test scripts and utilize automated test tools for conducting development and integration testing at the customer site using the following test methods: unit testing, system testing, regression testing, and system load/performance testing.

  • Identify and characterize system performance attributes that are load dependent.

  • Responsible for the development of integration test procedures to validate applicable requirements for a build, with mappings between requirements and test procedures. Include verification methods (e.g., Analysis, Demonstration, Inspection, and Test). Perform integration testing and troubleshooting, analyze and optimize performance

  • Implement a free and open source software build version control capability (non-proprietary) in a formal software versioning system and perform nightly build testing using automated testing (accessible by Government via remote access).

  • Provide on-site operational and technical assistance during DT&E/OT&E test as directed; support operations specialists through planned test events including the integration of several program capabilities in preparation for execution of test events.

  • Recommend and implement process improvement strategies in the adjudication and resolution of all functional Category (CAT) I and CAT II deficiencies identified as a result of Government or contractor testing with the Government.

  • Conduct an acceptance test for each release which the Government will observe that demonstrates system capabilities and validates services and UI capabilities in a Government-approved operationally representative environment.



  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant discipline including Math, Science, Engineering, Statistics, Engineering Management and 2 – 4 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with less than 2 years of prior relevant experience.

  • Experience testing and troubleshooting Java and web-based applications in a Windows environment.

  • Software development knowledge and experience with web application development and web-based client/server applications.

  • Experience using UI components such as GWT and/or Java Swing or similar frameworks

  • Knowledge of multiple operating systems (Mac OSX, Windows, Linux, etc.).

  • Knowledge of Java programming language (additional knowledge of other programming languages desirable, e.g. C#, C++, etc.).

  • Knowledge of basic web technologies including HTML5, CSS, XML, SOAP, WSDL/XSD, JavaScript and JQuery.

  • Knowledge of at least one Relational Database Management System (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, etc.).

  • Knowledge of basic IP network technologies (TCP/IP, UDP) and socket programming

  • Knowledge of a version control system (e.g. Git, SVN, CVS)

  • Knowledge of a build management tool (e.g. Ant, Maven, Gradle, Buildr)

  • Knowledge of Integrated Development Environments (IDE) such as Eclipse etc.

  • Must have the ability of obtaining a DoD Secret Security Clearance.

  • U.S. Citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team

  • Ability to isolate and resolve problems, document bugs, regress and close issues while working on particular application releases

  • Experience with all phases of a project lifecycle development process (analysis, design, code, test, migrate)

  • Experience with automated test and test driven development concepts, tools, and languages

  • Experience in DoD and military test and evaluation environments

  • Proficiency with MS Office Products (Word, Excel, Visio, & PowerPoint).

  • Excellent oral communication and technical writing skills as well as keen attention to detail.

  • Ability/desire to multi-task in a highly dynamic and challenging environment.

  • Familiarity with Agile development processes.
