Job Description:


This is a lead system engineering position that requires the design and development of electronic control systems for unmanned ground vehicles. This position requires strong leadership skills with the ability to convey ideas and solutions effectively to technical and nontechnical personnel. This position requires the ability to resolve complex technical issues quickly and efficiently while working in a highly dynamic environment. The qualified candidate will help manage all technical aspects of existing robotics programs while supporting new proposal efforts.


Lead a team of electrical, software, and mechanical designers to design and develop semi-autonomous and fully autonomous ground vehicle control systems for Military and Commercial applications. Develop new algorithms and new systems that will be applied to a broad variety of ground vehicles. Design and simulate advanced software algorithms in Matlab, evaluate and identify improvements to existing systems, communicate design concepts, schedules, and costs to senior management, and work with manufacturing, purchasing, planning, and program management to ensure that program schedules and budgetary goals are met. Lead new development programs from concept to production.

Other Job Functions

Design, simulate, and implement new vehicle control algorithms with various vehicle sensor systems, design and test systems using embedded computer control systems, design mechanical and electrical systems for unmanned vehicle applications. Additional activities may include the development and test of computer vision systems, implementing machine vision systems and sensor fusion algorithms, developing advanced control systems for unmanned vehicles, and generating bids and proposals for new opportunities.


This position requires the ability to supervise a small group of system engineers.

Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information as required by government standards

Ability to obtain a secret clearance

Ability to interact effectively with peers and supervisors

Ability to interact appropriately with the public when necessary

Ability to adhere to workplace rules


Degree in either Robotics (preferred), Control Systems, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering. Recent knowledge and experience in each of these areas is a must. A minimum of 5 years of experience is required.
