The University of Maine System is seeking to fill the single position of Associate Human Resources Partner (AHRP) or Human Resources Partner (HRP) for the University of Maine at Fort Kent campus.

The Associate Human Resources Partner (Assoc. HRP) is the entry level position in the HR Partner model. The incumbent works under the direction of the Director of Human Resources at UMPI or alternative campus HR leader and is responsible for addressing University system, campus, and department needs with effective HR strategies. The position partners with HR Centers of Excellence (COEs) and HR Administrative Partners (HRAPs) to develop and administer HR solutions that support relevant strategic goals and provides HR generalist support to faculty and staff. The Assoc. HRP will provide reliable direction and counsel on HR related issues and/or services while ensuring consistency and compliance with policies and regulatory requirements.

The Associate HRP does not have supervisory responsibilities. A direct career development path for this role is succession to HRP based on availability, performance and experience. The nature of the Associate HRP role focuses more on day-to-day implementation versus oversight and key decision making.

The position partners with HR Centers of Excellence (COEs) and HR staff to develop and administer HR solutions that support relevant strategic goals and provide HR generalist support to faculty and staff. The position serves as a consultant to leaders in maximizing results through the use of sound strategic HR practices. The HRP will provide reliable direction and counsel on HR related issues and/or services while ensuring consistency and compliance with policies and regulatory requirements.

The HRP may supervise student interns or administrative support as required. A direct career development path for this role is succession to SHRP based on availability, performance and experience. The nature of the HRP role focuses on day-to-day implementation including oversight and key decision making.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications for hire at the AHRP level:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

One year or more of relevant experience.

Basic knowledge of HR

Ability to communicate effectively with external and internal contacts, including presentation and facilitation skills.

Exercises good judgment, diplomacy, and perceptual objectivity to effectively and appropriately make decisions. Aptitude to define problems, identify trends, collect data, and establish facts to draw valid conclusions.

Experience working both independently and collaboratively to implement solutions.

Previous experience leveraging a wide array of technologies, such as a Human Resource Information System (HRIS) and distance education and communication tools.

Experience building productive relationships with internal and external constituencies.

Preferred Qualifications for hire at the AHRP level:

SHRM-CP certification (and/or PHR)

HR experience in a higher education setting or similarly complex multi-unit organization.

Additional Required Qualifications for hire at the HRP level:

3-5 years of strategic HR experience

Demonstrated knowledge of strategic HR in context of policy, process, organizational culture, laws/regulations, collective bargaining agreements, and practical realities

Additional Preferred Qualifications for hire at the HRP level:

Master's Degree

Other Information:

The salary range is low $40's to mid $60's based on the qualifications and experience of the successful applicant. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and tuition waiver programs for employees and dependents. In addition, the UMS retirement program provides a 10% employer contribution.
