JOB SUMMARY The Director of the Assessment & Referral department provides full management and oversight to the Assessment & Referral department. Provides direction to the assessment process, clinical guidance and advice to the staff. Provides assistance with community education with clinical issues and participates with community events as appropriate. The Director is to serve as a role model and organize their respective department services to meet the goals and objectives of the hospital mission. He/she is responsible for the planning, implementation, supervision, training, and evaluation of the professional, personnel, and fiscal policies of the Intake Assessment & Referral department. Works collaboratively with other department directors to assess and treat. Must be able to effectively communicate and problem solve when dealing with patients, families, physicians, and other department directors.
SPECIFIC JOB FUNCTIONS * Enhances intradepartmental communication.
Supervises department for 24 hour service provision.
Tracks and monitors data on patient through put using data to drive timely customer service and efficiency
Complete reports/statistics in a timely & accurate manner.
Participate in Public Relations Department in referral source development.
Acts as a resource expert for Physicians, RPAS and nursing.
Maintain positive communication and relationship with all departments.
Collaborates with the Quality/Risk Director to ensure EMTALA guidelines are followed.
Practices discipline in accordance with policy and procedures and standard of care.
Ensures coverage in First Step Department.
Monitors Dominion’s website answering or forwarding all emails coming into the website as appropriate.
Qualification Requirements: Education: Masters of Science in Nursing, Social Work, Psychology or other related field required.
Licensure: Current Licensure in Commonwealth of Virginia or Compact State as RN, LPC or LCSW.
Certifications: BLS required.CPI non-violent crisis intervention certification required as a part of orientation.
Experience: 3-5 years of direct Behavioral Health experience, preferably in an inpatient setting. 3-5 years of management experience in a hospital with focus on psychiatric services.
Administrative Skills: Excellent oral/written communication, interpersonal, organizational and leadership skills required.
Other Skills: Basic computer knowledge required.
