Job Description:

Umpqua Bank is seeking a Commercial Loan Portfolio Manager for our Lane County CBC.

This role is responsible for underwriting, credit monitoring, and managing a portfolio of Commercial Banking relationships to achieve efficiencies and quality of the process and product, retention and expansion of existing client relationship, growth of total client assets, and net growth in relationships. Primary performance responsibilities include analyzing financial data to determine the merits of loan requests, recommending structure, as well as identifying cross selling/referring opportunities of other deposits services. Responsible for credit risk and quality of assigned portfolio. Identify and refer new commercial loan and deposit production opportunities when appropriate to production Relationship Managers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversees loan/deposit portfolios for assigned portfolio of relationships.

  • Cross-sell deposit, trade, treasury management, foreign exchange, private banking, asset management, and other services to our existing client base as well as prospects.

  • Ensure the portfolio administration and risk management of each client relationship is in compliance with established credit policy, procedure and business strategy as well as commercial and regulatory guidelines. Complete annual loan reviews on each credit in the assigned portfolio.

  • May be assigned sales goals for client relationships as skills in client management grow.

  • Manage, analyze, underwrite and monitor to bank guidelines all assigned commercial relationships by obtaining and analyzing appropriate financial data to determine the continuing merit of specific relationships and assess/recommend risk or structure modifications appropriately as well as aggressively managing the client relationship.

  • Assist with due diligence/analysis with new client relationships as appropriate.

  • Primary point of a contact for the portfolio client; acting as a liaison to the Credit Department, the Commercial support staff and other internal business partners.

  • May provide advice and counsel to clients regarding trends and conditions of the business environment, capital markets and general banking trends.

  • Monitor loan repayment activities and financial condition of borrowing clients and take necessary action to collect past due accounts and ongoing repayment ability of all other accounts.

  • Will make presentations on specific loans and recommend approval and appropriate structure of credits.

  • Manage the renewal process by working with the Commercial Support Staff, the client and the credit department.

  • Act as a contact manager for relationships within portfolio for matters relating to other banking services.

  • Monitors industry trends and analyze specific industry trend data to identify potential areas of risk in the loan portfolio.

  • Participates in community and business functions/groups to ensure a positive image for the bank within the region’s marketplace.

  • Perform other duties and special projects as needed.

  • Demonstrates compliance with all bank regulations for assigned job function and applies to designated job responsibilities – knowledge may be gained through coursework and on-the-job training. Keeps up to date on regulation changes. Follows all Bank policies and procedures, compliance regulations, and completes all required annual required or job-specific training. May be asked to coach, mentor, or train others and teach coursework as subject matter expert. Actively learns, demonstrates, and fosters the Umpqua corporate culture in all actions and words.   • Bachelor’s degree or combination of education and directly related experience.

  • Has 5 years of commercial banking experience with a minimum of 3-4 years of credit analysis or commercial loan review.

  • Demonstrates strong underwriting skills.

  • Has strong understanding of credit policy and procedures and is able to accurately risk-rate loans/credits, evaluates both cash-flow and collateral-based loans/credits.

  • Demonstrated excellent verbal, written skills, interpersonal skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills and ability to exercise sound business judgment.

  • Advanced skills in excel, word, and PowerPoint.

  • Strong relationship management skills as well as ability to multiple competing priorities in a fast paced environment.PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
