HCA, Hospital Corporation of America Physician Assistant (PA) Out Patient Burn Clinic - Swedish Medical Center/ Days (Monday - Friday) in Englewood, Colorado

I. *Position Summary:*

* *The Physician Assistant (PA) delivers and collaborates on the medical aspects of care to specific populations within the scope and standards of practice set by the Colorado Medical Board. The PA collaborates with the physicians and interdisciplinary team members to review the plan of care and intervene when necessary to ensure adequate delivery of quality health care in a cost effective way. Utilizing extensive advanced knowledge of pathophysiology and pharmacology, the PA exercises judgment in the assessment, diagnosis and initiation of certain delegated medical processes and procedures. The ultimate goal of the PA is to improve continuity of patient care and facilitate patient flow throughout the health care continuum.* The Physician Assistant provides leadership through planning, organizing, coordinating, monitoring and evaluating the care provided for patients. The Physician Assistant actively participates in program development for the burn service line in collaboration with and, under the direction of, the Burn Unit Director and Burn Medical Director.*
*II. **Position Requirements:* *A. **Licensure/Certification/Registration: * Current certification by the National Commission for Certification of Physician Assistants. Current Colorado Physician Assistant License. Current BLS and ACLS. PALS, ATLS, and ABLS preferred. *B. **Education:*

Graduate of a program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission for Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA).

*C. **Experience:* Sufficient previous experience as a physician assistant including a minimum of 6 months of employment as a PA and a minimum of 500 patient encounters. Possesses advanced professional knowledge and skills as evidenced by credentials, peer review, and performance evaluation.* * * * *D. **Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: *

The physician assistant, if qualified by training and experience as determined by the supervising physician, may perform medical treatments, diagnostic procedures, or tasks as delegated by the supervising physician which fall within the normal scope of practice of the supervising physician. The Physician Assistant is accountable for his/her action. Provides safe and appropriate patient care within the Standards of Practice at SMC. Displays appropriate judgment and problem solving skills. Communicates positively and professionally with all internal and external customers.Demonstrates an ability to assume a leadership role with the health care team in planning and in the delivery of patient care.

III. Degree of Supervision Required: *Minimal, works under supervision of Director/Designee.*
