Alexian Brothers Medical Center is a 399-bed acute care hospital featuring all private patient rooms and a Level II Trauma Center. Located 25 miles northwest of Chicago in Elk Grove Village, ABMC has more than 900 physicians on staff, representing more than 80 medical and surgical specialties. Each year, ABMC treats more than 20,000 inpatients and 48,000 ER visits at the medical center and performs thousands of inpatient and outpatient surgeries.

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Case Management. Responsible for interacting on a professional basis with members of the medical staff, administration, management, patient care services and ancillary departments. Ability to maintain positive customer relations.

Position Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing

  • Current license in the state of Illinois as a Registered Professional Nurse

  • 3-years clinical experience required

  • 1-year case/utilization management experience or similar role preferred

Special Qualifications:

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with groups of one to one

  • Knowledge of medical terminology, levels of care, treatment modalities

  • Knowledge regarding community agencies and programs

  • Ability to make competent professional judgements and decisions

  • Understanding of the formal and informal organizational structure

  • Demonstrate a desire and willingness to maintain and upgrade professional skills and education

  • Working knowledge of SI/IS guidelines

  • Working knowledge of federal, state and regulatory requirements.

  • Working knowledge of EMTALA regulations.

Outside Relationships:

  • Maintain a positive relationship with outside agencies

  • Active in professional organizations
