Prepares and maintains monthly Workers Compensation data and reports. Assists with injury/illness prevention and correction.
Monitors Workers Compensation claims and costs. Coordinates medical treatment and "return-to-work" for employees to reduce workers compensation costs and absenteeism.
Ensures continuous safety improvement of facility issues through daily walks of the facility and coordination with Safety Committee members, maintenance and sanitation.
Coordinates the investigations and reporting process as it relates to Workers Compensation claims and accidents that cause damage to plant property/equipment.
Assists in the education of Supervisors and Managers on Corporate Safety Programs for multiple sites. Conducts safety trainings: new employee orientation, Hazard Communications, Lock Out/Tag Out, Emergency Response, Fire Prevention, Forklift Safety, Personal Protective Equipment, and Fall Protection.
Analyzes and selects suitable PPE to maximize employee protection with a focus on cost reduction.
Monitors and review accident investigation reports and ensures appropriate follow-up; participates in claim reviews.
Facilitates Safety Committee meetings, activities, and maintains meeting minutes.
Maintains safety training documentation, monthly safety meetings and safety communication boards and postings.
Responsible for manufacturing, distributing and consistently maintaining safe and quality food by following good manufacturing practices, allergen controls, food defense, HACCP and SQF requirements.
Responsible for immediately reporting all food safety and quality issues to your manager.
Responsible for partnering with others; Sharing knowledge, skills and information within your team and across functional areas.
Responsible for enhancing technical and functional competencies, as well as professional and leadership development.
Minimum 5 years of direct safety experience. Food processing experience and GMP knowledge a plus.
Experience in training safety programs, and coaching skills.
Solid knowledge of OSHA CFR 1910 and Safety issues
Good communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Able to interact with all levels of management and production personnel.
Must be able to handle multiple priorities and re-prioritize as needed. Must be organized and able to maintain accurate and complete records.
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
Job Specific Requirements:
In the event that the Senior Safety Coordinator is absent, the Department Manager is responsible for providing an equally qualified person to cover this position.
