Job Description: The Hardware Engineering Center (HWEC) is an engineering organization that focuses on product producibility and mission assurance. It is a vital link in the integrated product development process that allows Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems to introduce reliable new products faster, better, and more economically. This position is for the EO Sensor Design department in El Segundo, California. This will consist of performing conceptual and detailed mechanical design of EO Sensors, Laser products and Electronic components / devices for application in ground, airborne and space-based defense. Responsibilities include the design of structures, mechanisms, thermal systems and electronic enclosures. Candidates will be expected to follow established procedures and instructions while working closely with program / functional supervision to ensure the overall design objectives are met. Contacts are primarily with the immediate section manager, team lead, project leaders and other personnel (peers) within the applicable program. Required Skills: - Ability to apply basic principles, theories, and concepts within the mechanical engineering field. - 0-1 years experience in microelectronic assembly, processes, materials and development. - 0-1 years experience with 3-D modeling - Experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) - Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (Please upload an unofficial transcript when applying) - Must be able to obtain a DOD Secret security clearance Desired Skills: - Experience with 3-D modeling using Pro-Engineer or other CAD tools, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing methods, and be knowledgeable in reading mechanical fabrication and assembly drawings. - Production support including the use of basic measurement tools such as calipers and gauges - Ability to draft communications, create and deliver presentations - Able to work independently and as a team member - Existing security clearance and prior experience designing, testing and / or supporting aerospace / defense-related products Required Education (including major): Must have a BS / BA from an ABET accredited university with a major in Mechanical Engineering, or other related field by Summer 2017 or have graduated within 18 months prior to start date. 89457
