AT&T Senior Advanced Analytics in El Segundo, California

Want to help? We're looking for a data guru to partner with Entertainment Operations, Product and Engineering teams to build better data capabilities and dig into analysis around the usage and performance of our linear and streaming video experience. Furthermore, the ability to effectively communicate your findings to drive actionable insights will be key!


  • Solve challenging problems regarding our videoplatforms by transforming raw data from different sources (both batch andnear-real-time).

  • Report these insights by building rich, high-visibilityreports/dashboards/tools used by our direct stakeholders, senior management anda diverse set of teams across the company

  • Conduct end-to-end analysis that includes datagathering, requirements/KPI specifications, processing, statistical analysis,ongoing deliverables and presentations

  • Build statistical models to understand ourcustomers network experience and predict/prevent failures at our broadcastcenters to reduce outages

  • Make business recommendations (e.g.,cost-benefit, forecasting, hypothesis testing, optimization) with effectivepresentation of findings at multiple levels of stakeholders through visualdisplays of quantitative information

Who You Are

  • BA/BS in Mathematics, Statistics, ComputerScience or other quantitative field

  • You have excellent communication skills topresent findings to both a technical and not-as-technical audience, and canmanage stakeholder priorities directly

  • You have a thorough understanding of statistics,machine learning and big data

  • You have experience in a data-driven environmentdesigning and building metrics-focused deliverables, ideally in a technical,consumer-facing and/or mobile technology business

  • You’re enthusiastic and detail-oriented aboutproducing high-quality data and business analytics, often with requirementsthat are open-ended

  • You have a high degree of comfort in leveragingSQL to manipulate data and/or other big data querying languages

  • You have experience with analytical packagessuch as R or SAS and at least one analytic reporting platform (Tableau,MicroStrategy, etc.) or data visualization libraries (ggplot, Highcharts,D3.js, etc.)

  • You have strong software development skills inone or more programming/scripting languages (Python, Java, etc.)

  • You have working knowledge of ETL and data warehousingconcepts

  • You are responsive, team-oriented andcomfortable working in a dynamic organization with minimal structure andprocess

Bonus Points For

  • Experience with distributed analytic processingtechnologies (Hadoop, Hive, Pig, Presto, MapReduce, Kafka, Spark, etc.)

  • Subject matter knowledge of streaming internetvideo/audio and/or computer networking

  • Ability to communicate analyses in a clear andeffective manner to senior-level audiences
