General Motors U.S. Retirement Analyst - HUM0004752 in Detroit, Michigan


Responsible for the strategy development, analysis, and assessment of the GM Pension, Savings, and Profit Sharing Plans.

Activities include:

  • Analysis of Plan data and recommendation of future strategic initiatives for financial wellness and retirement readiness
  • Strategic Plan benchmarking including AonHewitt Benefit Index, TAPF, and DB/DC studies
  • Supports the development of the annual Total Compensation and Benefit Plan from design and recommendation through communications and implementation
  • Supports the development of Plan Language and recommends updates to existing Plan provisions, including working with Global Business Services and third party administrators on benefit design, implementation, communication, and delivery
  • Analyzes proposed and current legislative and regulatory changes (PBGC, DOL, ERISA) and recommends Plan strategies as appropriate
  • Assesses “best practices” in the marketplace and recommends new technology or tools to facilitate employee engagement in personal financial management
  • Evaluates and makes recommendations for new technology (i.e. mobile applications for retirement readiness) and researches state of the art retirement/financial planning products
  • Reviews and analyzes annual Pension Valuation Census Data Report for support of Plan Administrator certification process
  • Support Plan Administrator for certain Close Management System tasks
  • Supports GBS and COE with investigation of Plan provisions and assists with resolutions, as necessary
  • Reviews updates to Summary Plan Descriptions
  • Supports GBS and COE with annual projects (i.e. Valuation and Annual Funding Notices), including communication of same
  • Supports Pension and Savings Plan audits, internal and external
  • Supports development of strategic retirement and savings projects
  • Seeks opportunities for improvement in Plan design and benefit strategic direction (i.e. Financial Wellness, Retirement Readiness, Savings Rates, Auto Escalation)
  • Supports GBS and COE with development of training and communications materials, including Benefits Conference, Union Benefit Rep and Salaried Materials

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Finance, Business or similar degree
  • 7+ years experience in U.S. retirement plans, specifically defined benefit plans
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in teams as well as independently
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills (written & verbal)
  • Strong organizational and project planning skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.
  • Strong analytical skills


  • Experience in Defined Benefit and/or Defined Contribution Plans, Financial Analysis or ERISA Benefits
  • Prior people management experience preferred
