We have an immediate need for a Lead Intellectual Property Paralegal , responsible for providing support to the intellectual property legal team. The ideal candidate should have superior knowledge of U.S. and foreign trademark and patent prosecution processes, will be able to hit the ground running in this position, and will perform a variety of complex paralegal assignments. Assignments may be broad, requiring originality, ingenuity and initiative. Experience supporting patent litigation is preferred.

Job Duties:

  • Dockets U.S and foreign patent and trademark matters and generates reports from Foundation IP docketing software.

  • Assists in trademark clearance, trademark and domain name acquisition, and trademark policing work.

  • Assists in USPTO trademark filings, including electronic filing of new applications, responses and renewals, and in drafting and filing TTAB documents.

  • Prepares Information Disclosure Statements to be filed with USPTO.

  • Monitors patent annuity and maintenance fee deadlines and processes annuity and maintenance fee payments.

  • Prepares correspondence for intellectual property attorneys relating to various copyright, patent and trademark issues.

  • Communicates with employees and outside counsel on various intellectual property matters to support attorneys.

  • Fact and document gathering in support of subpoenas and discovery requests.

  • Assists in resolving legal problems of limited scope and complexity.

  • Candidate must be a self starter, flexible, able to find creative solutions to roadblocks, work with a sense of urgency, and be equally comfortable working independently and in a team.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience.

  • Paralegal Certification.

  • Ten or more years of intellectual property experience.

  • Proficient with Foundation IP docketing software.

  • Proficient with Excel.

  • Excellent writing and verbal communications skills.

  • Organizational, time-management and prioritization capabilities; able to manage workload independently, efficiently and with minimal supervision.

  • Must be a team player.
