Encompass Home Health Payroll, Senior Manager in Dallas, Texas

Encompass Home Health & Hospice is searching for an experienced payroll manager to join our corporate leadership team as the Senior Manager of our Payroll Department. As the Senior Manager of Payroll, you will direct and oversee all aspects of payroll operations, including taxes and finance. This role will have 7-9 direct reports.

Position Overview:

  • More than 50% of time is spent on corporate payroll strategy, planning, communications and the marketing of the payroll function and related services.

  • Responsible for the hiring and development of all payroll positions.

  • Develop, implement and generate performance metrics and annual reviews..

  • Ensure that Payroll Staff receives guidance and coaching, assist the Payroll Supervisor with overseeing, mentoring and coaching the Payroll Staff on daily activities, prioritization, and work planning.

  • Evaluate and analyze existing payroll policies, procedures and business processes. Draft, propose and implement changes and/or quality control measures leading to best practice operations.

  • Develop internal controls and payroll processes and strategies that meet the organizations goals.

  • Work with the business development team and participate in due diligence as it relates to payroll integration matters.

  • Remain current on new legislation and regulatory ruling impacting payroll.

  • Perform timely review and sign off on all required payroll and state tax reconciliations.

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulatory reporting requirements and guidelines.

  • Ensure W-2 information is prepared and distributed annually following state, federal and company policies and procedures.

  • Ensure PeopleSoft, Homecare Homebase, and Sage 300 ERP tables, calendars, and calculation controls are accurate and in compliance with all internal and external audit controls.

  • Coordinate processing of payroll-related information into the Sage 300 ERP and PeopleSoft systems.

  • Manage the set up and maintenance of all earning, deductions, taxes, accruals and other payroll specific code tables.

The right person for this role will have extensive payroll operations knowledge, be customer service oriented, and be a natural leader.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Management required.

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred.

  • 12 years payroll experience with multistate entities.

  • 3-5 years minimum supervisory experience.

  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft is a plus.

  • Advanced knowledge of U. S. payroll and accounting practices and principles.

  • Knowledge of State and Federal payroll laws relating to key areas of responsibility.

  • Strong technology skills, particularly Microsoft Office, Excel and Word, PowerPoint.

  • Experience with home health or hospice payrolls and variable pay differentials is helpful.
