Conroe Regional Medical Center has achieved recognition as a Certified Primary Stroke Center, an Accredited Chest Pain Center, and designation as a Level III Trauma facility. CRMC also has a Level III Neonatal ICU for the most vulnerable patients.
Conroe Regional Medical Center is currently looking for an Acute Care Occupational Therapy Supervisor. This is a full time position.
Coordinates the provision of acute care occupational therapy services: responsible for scheduling and staffing, responsible for patient care assignments, and assisting the Rehab manager in clinical supervision. Consistently utilizes appropriate communication channels and methods and initiates constructive approaches to problems identification and solution.
Delivers medically prescribed Occupational Therapy in support of medical care as directed by the primary physician. Works with patients of all ages, race, creed, gender, and disability without bias or prejudice. Utilizes the evaluation of the patient’s rehabilitative needs to plan the care and document effective, appropriate and safe Occupational Therapy treatments. Acts as a member of the interdisciplinary team in helping the patients and their families achieve the highest level of functioning. Supervises and instructs COTAs and Rehab Techs in regards to inpatient occupational therapy services. Performs all job duties and tasks in accordance with national and state professional governing guidelines and state practice act, rules, and code of ethics.
Each patient is assessed by appropriate disciplines beginning at the time the patient enters a hospital service and progressing through discharge. The patient’s relevant physical, psychological and social status will be assessed.
Supportive of the ethics and compliance programs set forth by HCA demonstrated by: a. Upholds code of conduct. b. Adheres to dealing appropriately and fairly with employee misconduct. c. Enforces all ethics and compliance policies as they pertain to his/her area. d. Provides and assures ethics and compliance education as requested by the ECO and/or corporate initiative. e. Sets an example to all staff in their daily activities.
Responsible for training staff on the overall code of conduct and specific policies and procedures that affect department specific responsibilities.
If an ethics and compliance issue is identified, reports to the director any violation that he/she is aware of in the department or the facility.
Prepares monthly staff schedules, collaborating with other supervisors to utilize PRN staff and cross-training opportunities Makes appropriate patient-care and process rounds assignments, collaborating with other supervisors and staff, based on staff skills/competencies. Adjusts staffing levels in response to patient-care activity, collaborating with other supervisors to reassign patient-care assignments. Schedules meetings, in-services, special assignments, team rounds, etc. into the daily operational schedule. Supervises the orientation, competency, and training of new employees. Takes responsibility for orientation, training, supervision, documentation, and charge entries for agency therapist and students.
Assists in competency development and skills assessment for the Inpatient Rehabilitation Services unit, fulfilling timeline expectations. Inputs work orders to maintenance on environmental needs. Notifies Director of Rehab Services of equipment failure or environment issues. Facilitate/participates in monthly staff or focus meetings, communicates information pertinent to staff, keeping meeting minutes and obtaining attendance signatures when applicable. Establishes and makes progress towards individual goals/objectives annually. Consistently participates actively in established departmental and house-wide performance improvement activities, to include use of hospital-approved abbreviations. Attains/maintains knowledge of the Health Information System as a user and trainer of the system. Contributes to the development and implementation of the Strategic Plan as appropriate.
Supports physician partnership for development of service areas.
Performs other operational and/or leadership duties as assigned, displaying initiative to see processes through to completion, meeting the objective and timeline.
Demonstrates competency in patient assessment and reassessment that is complete, timely, identifies the patient’s loss of function, and reflects appropriate tools, skills, and judgment, to include:
a. Pertinent historical patient information is included to accurately assess continuum of care issues.
b. Physical findings are specific, quantified, and relevant to diagnosis.
c. Assessment of pain includes quantification, qualification, pain history, and past pain strategies.
d. Educational needs and barriers to learning are included.
e. Appropriate precautions are identified to include allergy history, safety, infection control,
diagnosis-related precautions or restrictions, and contraindications.
f. Domestic violence screening is performed per hospital policy.
g. Psychosocial and/or cultural and religious needs are considered. h. Age-specific needs in relation to growth and development are considered. i. Discharge planning and family support and/or follow-up care are addressed. j. Risk factors, precautions and contraindications are identified. Determines goals for the patient that is functional, specific, measurable, and attainable based on past and present functional levels and anticipated outcomes. Develops a therapeutic plan of care that maximizes the patient’s functional potential considering the patient’s cultural and religious practices, emotional barriers, literacy and education level, desire and motivation to learn, physical and cognitive limitations, language barriers, and the financial implications of care choices. Develops Plan of Care that relates to specific clinical needs. Daily notes reflect concise and specific plan of care. Explains risks and benefits of treatment to the patient commensurate with the patient’s learning needs, abilities, preferences, and readiness to learn.
Provides and documents patient/family education on the interdisciplinary teaching record, and may be supplemented in progress notes. Teaching is provided according to the patient’s/family’s needs and plan of care, in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team. Adjustments in the chosen methods are made according to the patient’s family’s current knowledge, attitudes, developmental level, special needs and learning considerations.
Completes timely and consistent entry of evaluation, progress notes, and charges. Billing is accurate to minutes recorded and to guideline descriptions.
Documentation consistently reflects established department policies and current quality indicators to include use of hospital-approved abbreviations.
Communicates client information with physicians, nurses, case managers, ancillary staff, patients, and family members to fulfill position responsibilities.
Demonstrates knowledge of budgetary financial constraints and utilizes resources with good judgment.
Assumes leadership role to enhance financial strength of Conroe Regional Medical Center. Completes performance reviews on staff, grading performance per criteria, addressing strengths and weaknesses and assisting with annual goal-setting, fulfilling timeline expectations. Submits to Director for final approval. Manages Variance Reporting and Employee Injury Program per hospital policy. Utilizes Job Hazard Analysis information when training. Investigates and follows up on injuries.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
A. Bachelor of Science, Master of Science degree, or doctorate in Occupational Therapy
B. Minimum of two years of experience; prior leadership experience preferred C. Licensed as an Occupational Therapist in the State of Texas. D. Current CPR certification.
