Registered Nurse 2 (RN2) On-Call / Intermittent Coyote Ridge Corrections Center (CRCC) Connell, WA

The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the position of Registered Nurse 2 (RN2) on-call/intermittentfor the Coyote Ridge Corrections Center (CRCC) located in Connell, WA. This announcement may be used to fill full-time RN2 vacancies as they occur.

COYOTE RIDGE CORRECTIONS CENTER (CRCC) is located on a 60-acre site about 40 miles north of the Tri Cities. CRCC recently completed a major expansion project that will house over 2,000 offenders and will help shape the future of corrections in Washington State. Balancing security functions with sustainability strategies, green-built Coyote Ridge Corrections Center is designed to protect both the public and the environment. Using 30% recycled materials, efficiency lighting controls and high-efficiency lamps, CRCC has achieved energy efficiency rates that exceed State requirements by more than 10 percent! Duties

The registered nurse delivers services which promote health, foster healing, support coping and adjustment to various health conditions. Nursing services are provided to individual patients, their families, groups of patients, the staff employed at a correctional facility and to the public at large. The Registered Nurse 2 serves as a lead worker and supports the agency mission and vision by:

  • Screening, assessing, and evaluating offenders and the conditions where they live and work to ensure that they are well, safe and their health care continuous.
  • Responding to all other requests for health care attention in a complete, timely, clinically appropriate and therapeutic manner.
  • Delegating and supervising work, monitoring, managing, coordinating, and delivering health care.
  • Planning transition, making referrals and arranging follow-up when patients transfer or return to the community.
  • Assisting patients to improve their skill and ability to provide care for themselves and their family.
  • Counseling, consulting, teaching, advising, and providing health information that improves quality of health services and/or enhances safety and security.

On-call/intermittent staff are expected to:

  • Be available to work all shifts (day, swing and graveyard) including weekends and holidays as requested.
  • Be willing to work a minimum of 12 shifts a month.
  • Provide written availability by the 20th of each month for the following month's coverage.
  • Be willing to complete a paid six-week correctional worker core training.

The ability to obtain a valid Washington State license to practice as a Registered Nurse prior to employment;

Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing; *AND *One year experience working as a Registered Nurse.
