Hiring Range: *$51,573.00-$65,000.00*

The City and County of Denver's, Denver Human Services is seeking a highly creative Internal Marketing and Communications Specialist to join the Marketing and Communications team. This position will be a member of a team of talented communications and marketing professionals and will work directly on internal communications and marketing initiatives. The position will report to the Deputy Director of Internal Marketing and Communications. Bilingual candidates strongly encouraged.

About Denver Human Services Denver Human Services partners with the community to provide Denver residents with the tools and support they need to build strong foundations that support their work to achieve their full potential. DHS programs include food, cash and medical benefits, child care, employment first, veteran's services and general assistance for eligible Denver residents. Protection & Prevention services are provided via child support and child, youth and adult protection, along with community-focused programming, like in-home services, that are designed to strengthen families and prevent abuse or neglect. From preventing homelessness to providing protection to the elderly to ensuring child care for families in financial need, DHS programs serve one in three Denver residents.

Job Responsibilities

The Internal Marketing and Communications Specialist will report to the Deputy Director of Internal Marketing and Communications and will work with the DHS Marketing and Communications team to provide quality internal communications and marketing assistance to all DHS divisions. The Internal Marketing and Communications Specialist should be committed to writing quality content, enjoy strategizing thoughtful and effective internal communications plans and possess strong interpersonal skills. This position will be responsible for contributing to the following marketing and communications activities:

CONTENT CREATION

  • Develop strategic plans and content calendars to support a steady stream of content for annual internal campaigns and events
  • Produce and mange compelling, informative content for internal communication sources such as:
  • Agency-wide employee bulletin
  • E-mail communications (agency wide and division specific)
  • Intranet site-
  • Creating clear and concise written and visual content
  • Train others on the intranet capabilities
  • Meet regularly with division liaisons- monitor division content
  • Research and recommend enhancements to improve the user experience
  • Executive Communications, such as talking points, presentations, fact sheets and other internally focused content EVENT PLANNING and EXECUTION
  • Provide event planning and execution support, such as logistics, presentation preparation, talking points and other functions as directed for:
  • Quarterly all staff meetings (planning and executing)
  • Quarterly all supervisors meetings (planning and execution)
  • About a dozen agency-wide employee engagement events CROSS DIVISION/AGENCY COMMUNICATIONS
  • Work closely with various internal divisions to help educate/communicate the value of the division
  • Employee engagement:
  • Work with the DHS Office of Human Resources to identify opportunities to build employee engagement
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of a comprehensive employee communication strategy that informs, engages and motivates employees
  • Ensure employee communications activities in all office locations are aligned with DHS efforts
  • Develop and maintain calendar of award and recognition across agency
  • Serve as a DHS champion and lead events that enhance organizational initiatives and goals OTHER
  • Working with other members of the Marketing and Communications team to develop creative messaging using video, graphics, photography and other materials to support internal communications goals and activities
  • Contribute to overall marketing and communications team initiatives as assigned

Qualifications

  • Education Requirement:Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience Requirement:Two years of professional level experience performing communications, marketing, and/or public relations
  • Education & Experience Equivalency:A Master's Degree may be substituted for one year of the experience requirement
  • Additional appropriate experience may be substituted for the minimum education requirement Preferred qualifications:

  • Three to five years of professional experience performing internal communications, marketing on behalf of a large agency/company

  • Minimum two years of event planning
  • Two years marketing experience
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and publishing software preferred
  • Excellent written communication
  • Ability and comfort communicating verbally
  • Must be able to prioritize and organize multiple concurrent projects and tasks with both short and long-term deadlines Additional Information
