The primary purpose of this position is to assist with the Property Management Program in areas of acquisition accountability, Inventory, and Distribution of non-expandable property. This position is located in the General Services Department, Chinle Comprehensive Health Care Facility, Chinle, Arizona. The IHS is required by law to give absolute preference to qualified applicants who meet the Secretary of the Interior's definition of Indian for appointment to vacancies within the IHS in accordance with established IHS policy as outlined in the Indian Health Manual Part 7, Chapter 3.   • Screens equipment requests from available inventory records and other government surplus sources, to identify excess that might be acquired for the requesting activity.
  • Coordinates large equipment or fixed property acquisition with Bio-Medical, Facility Management, and Safety.
  • Receives and verifies shipment of equipment against packing slip/purchase orders; notes shortages, overages, damages or discrepancies; refers discrepancies to the Inventory Management Specialist to coordinate appropriate action.
  • Processes receiving reports in accordance with established procedures; maintains related documents such as warranty and photographs on file for reference.
  • Receives and stores unrequired, excess or surplus government property turned in from various activities. Assists with preparation of appropriate disposition forms with statements including related documents where practical; insures the information is adequate to reflect the condition of the property.

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Candidate must have had 52 weeks of specialized experience to the GS-05 level to qualify for the GS-06 grade level. In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below- *SPECIALIZED QUALIFICATIONS: * Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Distribution, cataloging, receipt and control processes, assisting in maintaining inventory records of warehouse and direct issue supplies, their usage and other reports as assigned, knowledge of acquisition process, automated records data basing, analyzing and reporting.

SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: GS-06: Generally not applicable. Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).

Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. IHS may offer newly-appointed Federal employees credit for their directly related previous non-federal experience or active duty uniformed military service. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which annual leave is earned. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Must posses a valid state driver license for operation of a government vehicle for on-site and off-site locations within/outside service delivery area for supplies.
  • Security Clearance: If you are selected for this vacancy, you must undergo a pre-employment fingerprint check and background investigation. Fingerprint results and background investigation documentation must be cleared prior to hire.
