The Nurse Practitioner positions are located at the Indian Health Services, Division of Medical Staff, Tsaile, Arizona. The position works under the supervisor Medical Officer. Incumbent provides diagnostic, preventive, and therapeutic health services to patients and family members. Teaches patients and family members ways to maintain or improve their health status.

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): EDUCATION: Degree or diploma from a professional nursing program approved by the legally designated State accredit agency at the time the program was completed by the applicant. GS-09, 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree; GS-11, 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D degree of Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level; GS-12, 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-11 grade level. LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have possess active, current registration as a professional nurse in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a Territory of the United States. Knowledge of and skills in current professional nursing practices are required in the particular field of nursing for the position being filled. The selected individual is required to obtain and maintain medical staff clinical privileges, including any licensure requirements. If privileges are not obtained or maintained during employment, the employee will be subject to adverse actions, up to and including removal from Federal service. Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
