PRP Recycling Machine Operator in Chicago, Illinois
Perform startup, shutdown, material changeovers and normal operating procedures for assigned machines and conveyor systems with minimal supervision.
Perform and track material inventory and production information by inputting required information in HMI interfaces and/or manual documents. Adjust operating conditions and parameters for the equipment based on feedback from an HMI terminal and observation of equipment.
Coordinate inventory levels of all productions supplies with the Shift Lead such as bags, boxes, liners, skids, chemicals, etc.
Identify equipment and personnel safety issues; coordinate with Shift Lead to resolve. Aid in the Safety and Operations training of new employees.
Maintain compliance with company and OSHA policy in regards to operations and safety issues, including but not limited to: lockout/tagout procedures, fork truck operation, proper use of PPE, and sharps discovery and handling.
Must clearly understand and perform all procedures and equipment per training and must attend all required training sessions (including safety training)
Move material in a timely and efficient manner with forklifts utilizing multiple attachments
Loads or unloads materials onto or off of pallets, skids, or lifting device. Accurately weigh containers, label correctly, and store in the proper location.
Communication required with employees in all departments and functional areas
Maintain cleanliness and organization on the line and the surrounding area (including outside)
Must be attentive to potential contamination issues and handle issues appropriately
5+ years of prior work experience in a machine operator position. Previous experience with machine maintenance a plus.
Practical knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, hydraulic systems, conveyor systems and programmable controls required.
Demonstrated safe work habits and extensive knowledge of workplace safety is required.
Ability to read complex drawings and perform simple mathematics is required, HS Diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Ability to work quickly, especially during busy periods and maintain area.
Ability to work 12 hours per day, 3-4 days per week (6 AM – 6 PM or 6 PM – 6 AM).
Ability to lift, push, pull 10 lbs on a regular basis and up to 50 lbs on an occasional basis required.
Ability to wear a full-face respirator, hard hat, steel-toed shoes and other PPE required.
Ability to stoop, kneel, crawl, squat, climb a ladder, bend, climb and reach on a regular basis is required.
Previous experience driving forklifts and utilizing material handling equipment preferred.
PC proficiency a plus, especially windows based programs such as Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, customer service and communication skills.
Ability to travel up to 20% after first year of employment a plus.
Possess knowledge to differentiate products, keep current with material types, and knowledge of line material flow.
