University of Virginia Research Assistant for Community Outreach in Charlottesville, Virginia
The Cancer Center seeks a Research Assistant for Community Outreach to be part of our growing research programs. The incumbent manages research projects and community engagement activities for faculty researchers in Public Health Sciences (PHS) and the Cancer Center. The incumbent is responsible for working in a telecommuting work environment and maintaining the organization of a number of community-based research projects related to cancer prevention and control, including projects that target physical activity, nutrition, and obesity-related behaviors. Alongside the organization of research projects, the incumbent also assists in data analysis and management.
The research assistant also develops, organizes, and participates in cancer control and prevention-related community engagement and outreach activities, working with multidisciplinary community and academic partners.
This position will telecommute and work in projects in Southside Virginia. Work during weekends may be required.
Qualified applicants must have a Bachelor's degree. A Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Sciences, Community Health, or Statistics is preferred. A minimum of five years' experience managing nutrition, physical activity, and obesity-related intervention programs, as well emphasizing community engagement is required. Access to personal and/or public transportation to travel to/from outreach centers is required. Proven successful experience telecommuting is preferred. Proficient use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint) is required.
