Job Description Responsible for scheduling pre-determined work activities of Transmission field personnel. Provide front-end loaded schedules as well as completed ready to execute resource loaded schedules that optimize the maintenance work plans, capital work plans and other TFS work activities. Manage TFS outage requests, including entering outages into TOA and verifying that all required outages have been entered. Maintain in-depth knowledge of scheduling software and upgrades to the software.

With guidance, develop fully integrated resource loaded and levelized TFS work schedules that optimize maintenance work plans, capital outage work, and other TFS work activities using Transmission approved scheduling software and tools.

Comply with the Transmission Outage Management Strategy System (TOMSS) Business Rules and Processes.

Manage TFS outage requests, including entering outages into TOA or its successor, verifying that all required outages have been entered, and ensuring that all outage requests are approved by TOps.

Assist in organizing, coordinating and attending the TOMSS outage coordination meetings.

Coordinate changes to the work schedule when an outage needs to be canceled or rescheduled.

Assist in prioritizing outage reservations to optimize the benefit to AEP both in reliability and earnings.

Develop, review, and present statistical reports related to work scheduling and adherence, crew utilization, etc.

Coordinate and conduct meetings with other sections/departments covering scheduling, staffing and outages.

Promote professionalism, teamwork, and adherence to standards.

Minimum Requirements

**This position is posted as a range from a Trans Fld Srvcs Scheduler to a Trans Fld Srvcs Scheduler Sr. Qualifications and experience will be considered in determining appropriate classification. The position will be located in the Charleston area and provide coverage for Logan, Williamson, Milton, Pt. Pleasant and Ripley.

Trans Fld Srvcs Scheduler Requirements:

Bachelor Degree in a related technical field such as Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management and 3 years' experience; or an Associate Degree in a related technical field and 6 years' experience; or high school diploma and 10 years utility field experience.

Candidates with a Bachelor Degree in a Business field, such as Accounting, Finance or Management will be accepted if they have at least 5 years of maintenance work scheduling or construction project scheduling experience or other relevant project controls experience.

Trans Fld Srvcs Scheduler Sr. Requirements:

Bachelor Degree in a related technical field such as Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management and has typically acquired 6 or more years of related technical experience; or an Associate Degree in a related technical field and 10 years' or more of related technical experience; or high school diploma and 15 years or more of utility field experience.

Candidates with a Bachelor Degree in a Business field, such as Accounting, Finance or Management will be accepted if they have at least 8 years of maintenance work scheduling or construction project scheduling experience or other relevant project controls experience.

Must possess an understanding of AEP protection schemes and competently perform current scheduling techniques and analyses on all project/outage aspects.

Other requirements for Trans Fld Srvcs Scheduler and Trans Fld Srvcs Scheduler Sr positions:

  • P&C Experience Preferred: Experience in relay protection schemes and understanding of inadequate and reduced protections preferred.

  • Proficient with MS Office Tools and MS SharePoint. Stay current on technology enhancements and procedures and make suggestions for change.

  • Some travel required (approximately 15%).

  • Ability to read and interpret one-line station diagrams and transmission line switching diagrams.

  • Aptitude to understand switching, tagging and clearance points.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of zones of protection.

  • Ability to estimate resource requirements for typical TFS projects (construction and maintenance).

  • Must possess the ability to communicate effectively.

  • Good organizational skills.

  • Ability to work effectively with others to prioritize work.

  • Able to work under minimal supervision.
