The Tool Attendant main responsibility is to identify, manage and resolve the mechanic’s and other shop personnel’s needs regarding various tools and parts. Duties and responsibilities
Check in/out various tools
Review and confirm all incoming transfers for accuracy
Repair all incoming tools.
Identify bill-back opportunities and communicate to transferring branch
Hoist testing and certification
Air tool testing
Man tool trailers as needed in on-site locations. (This may require extended stay with substantial overtime depending on project.)
Participate in special projects
Process work orders
On call rotation as needed
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
Retail sales background within the home improvement, equipment sales/rental or telecommunications markets preferred but not mandatory
Previous working knowledge of small, medium and large tools- Previous parts and counter experience is preferred.
Knowledge of mailing/shipping procedures
Must have a valid driver’s license and excellent driving record
Ability to drive/operate multiple types of vehicles and equipment
Knowledge on how to identify and use various tools
Ability to engage in natural verbal interaction with customers
Able to walk into unfamiliar environments and adjust rapidly to the setting
Multi-task on multiple assignments within a fast-paced environment
Attention to detail
Customer service focused
Solid and proven computer skill set (knowledge of MS Office is preferred)
Primary working conditions will be service area and front counter.
Secondary work locations include the garage area, outdoor lot/yard and maintenance area.
The candidate must possess all auditory, speaking and communicating capabilities necessary to complete the responsibilities detailed above. The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to sitting, standing, walking, bending and twisting, climbing, driving, pushing and pulling, speaking, hearing, writing, lifting, seeing and reading. Knowledge of office equipment operation such as the telephone, computer terminal, portable computer, calculator, copy machine and fax machine is required.
