The Student Trainee Program is for Champaign, IL area high schools. This program allows students the opportunity to work at Caterpillar while going to school.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

High School students considered for information technology positions should have a basic understanding of Microsoft Office, web site maintenance, computer hardware/software and/or HTML. All positions require working in a team environment and demonstrating quality customer service. Responsibilities vary from job to job, but may include: networking and technical support; Internet/intranet; web/mobile application; mainframe and programming. Considerations include education or experience in the information technology field. In addition, successful performance requires sound judgment, motivation, effective interaction with others and the ability to handle an array of responsibilities.

These positions are open to high school students only.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be 16 years of age

  • Must have and maintain a cumulative 3.0 / 4.0 GPA

  • Must be a full time student attending a Champaign, IL area high school

  • Must have reliable transportation

  • Must be able to work 10-20 hours per week while attending school full time and 20-40 hours per week during academic breaks

  • Must have completed advanced computer science or similar course

Desired Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated leadership

  • Participation in school clubs and organizations

  • Good communication skills

  • Software development experience other than class projects

This is a part time temporary opening in Champaign, IL for high school students. Relocation is not available.
