Job Summary

We are looking for an entry level software engineer with the right attitude, education and skills to compliment our Flight Management System (FMS) team. As a software engineer you’ll need to apply a systematic, disciplined, quantifiable approach to the construction, analysis, and management of software. This will require you to use independent judgment, under general supervision, when making day-to-day decisions.

Job Responsibilities

  • Application of knowledge to the product domain (FMS), requirements, design, development, test and release software processes, tools, methods and coding best practices with primary emphasis on software design and development.

  • An understanding of how to incorporate the appropriate RC processes and tools into product development, resulting in increased product quality and improved customer satisfaction.

  • Design, code, integrate, regression test, test and document software in areas such as: software problem reports, change requests, software components, and software test scripts.

  • Perform software debugging using appropriate techniques and tools.

  • Contribute to cross-functional team efforts in integration, verification and validation for products and sub-systems.

  • Provide engineering estimates for own work on tasks similar to those previously performed.

  • Contribute to software engineering requirements capture, analysis and creation for well-defined software designs.

Basic Qualifications

The ideal candidate will need to possess a bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline. They must be a self-starter who is able to handle unexpected events and achieve results by taking advantage of opportunities. The candidate should be highly motivated, patient, well organized and able to work in a team environment. As an entry level software engineer the candidate will be expected to work under the direction of more experienced engineers in a technically advanced and challenging field.

Experience in the following areas is a plus, but not required for an entry level position:

  • Visual Basic, C++, Ada, Python

  • Agile software development

  • Requirements capture tools (DOORs, Jama, etc…)

  • Atlassian ALM Tools Suite (Confluence, JIRA, etc…)

  • Google Products (Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Sheets, Docs, Slides, etc..)

  • Aviation systems and software development guidance (ARP4754A, DO-178B)

  • Flight Management Systems (FMS)
