Position Summary:

The Performance Engineer s role is to make sure our products meet their exacting performance requirements. The Performance Engineer will be part of a small, targeted performance engineering team, working under the technical guidance of the Senior Performance Engineer. The role requires you to be able to guide your own and the engineering scrum teams through technical analysis as they overcome any issues they may have introduced in the reliability of the total system.

Main Responsibilities

Be an active Champion of performance and reliability in all part of the software life cycle

Create, maintain and provide infrastructure to enable effective system wide performance and bench making

Model system performance and scalability for network dimensioning

Guide and, if necessary, perform technical analysis of performance issues in supporting the scrum teams in meeting the performance specification of the system

Require minimum supervision

Actively engage with internal customers to identify and refine requirements


Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

Strong working knowledge of networking, packet tracing, understanding latency and throughput.

C/C development experience including solid scripting skills in Python or Perl.

Knowledge of Linux operating systems and their underlying components, system statistics, performance tuning, file systems and io.

Knowledge of virtualisation tools and techniques including performance optimisation and deployment of technologies such as KVM and VMWare

Demonstrable experience in performance diagnostics, capacity planning, performance tuning, performance monitoring

Experience working with high-traffic solutions.

Degree in Computer Science or equivalent with a 5-8 years of relevant work experience

Good verbal and written communication skills



Network systems development and internet core protocols

Distributed file systems or clustered file systems

Systematic problem solving skills, with the ability to think outside the box.

Creation of appropriate test cases, both manual and automated, and the collation, analysis and presentation of test results.

Data analysis skills to pick up trends before they become major problems.

Can do attitude no problem is too big or too small.

Highly desirable:


Previous experience as an enterprise class Site Reliability Engineer

Eager to learn new technologies and programming languages.
