Devon Energy Geophysicist - New Ventures & Heavy Oil Technology in Calgary, California
Devon Canada and The New Ventures/Heavy Oil Technology team is seeking an intermediate to seniorGeophysicist. The responsibilities for this role include designing and executing programs to evaluate Enhanced Heavy Oil Recovery (EHOR) projects as well as seismic interpretation of the pre- and post- recovery projects. Integration of seismic and geomechanical data for both reservoir and cap rock will be focused on pilot studies but will also include evaluation of New Ventures opportunities throughout the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin.

Jackfish uses SAGD thermal recovery to produce more than 100,000bbl/d from its three facilities. Maintaining this production level economically and ensuring the integrity of the project are critical for Devon.

Improve reservoir characterization using geophysical data
Provide input on reservoir characterization as well as cap rock integrity on a multi-disciplinary team

Mentoring and educating non-geophysicists on the team

Degree in the field of Earth Sciences from an accredited institution
Master’s Degree or PhD considered an asset
Current member of APEGA or qualified to apply for membership
Minimum of 6 years’ experience working with a producer in the Oil & Gas industry
Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team
Readiness to champion ideas
Well organized with attention to details
Self-motivated with a positive, flexible attitude
Experience with 4D seismic and enhanced heavy oil recovery projects is considered an asset
Experience with Seisware and Petrel is preferred
