Devon Energy Geologist - New Ventures & Heavy Oil Technology in Calgary, California
Devon Canada and The New Ventures/Heavy Oil Technology team has an exciting opportunity for an intermediate to seniorGeologist. This role will be multi-faceted in that the successful candidate will both seek out new opportunities but will also be a key contributor on a multi-disciplinary team working on Enhanced Heavy Oil Recovery projects.

Evaluation of heavy oil reservoirs throughout the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin in order to provide technical recommendations for acquisitions
Provide detailed geologic input for the design and execution of Enhanced Heavy Oil Recovery schemes both internally and in partnered projects
Integration of geological and engineering technical data and interpretations

Post-Secondary education in the field of Geoscience required, graduate degree preferred
Current member of APEGA or qualified to apply for membership
8-10 years of experience, ideally in Oil & Gas industry, specifically Heavy Oil projects
Innovative thinker with a positive flexible attitude
Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team
Fundamental understanding of sequence stratigraphy and the geology of the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin
Strong skill set in reservoir quality evaluation, especially mineralogy, geochemistry and fluid-rock interactions
Formation evaluation and petrophysics experience is considered an asset
Experience working in steam assisted and cold flow heavy oil projects is desirable
Readiness to champion ideas and engage with differing opinions
